What everyone really wants to know is when the first tuner adapts the dual intake setup for the B7 RS4....

I'm still not sold on this. The lines of the car seem all wrong and make it look fat and lazy rather than lean and aggressive.

It certainly looks better than the GTR which I think will date very quickly.

However, pictures can be deceptive so I think I'll reserve final judgement until I see one in the flesh and take it for a test drive. At least I've now got an option to an RS6 for the next motor I buy.

The game hasn't moved on!

It doesn't look as good as the RS4, is less practical, comes with too many options (wheels etc - this is an RS, it should come specced with the best wheels from day 1) and the engine is barely any different.

Also due to the high price of the RS5, it could be argued that RS4 residuals will not be negatively affected, only strengthened.

Ok so it obviously has a higher redline (max power at 8250 so there must be at least an extra 500 rpms to go) .
4.163 L displacement means there`s not much difference in the engine.
It would be nice for the etka part numbers for internals to match up to that of the rs4 though.
Then we can all be rev-happy.
Fsi pumps have changed though. So have the cyl heads (where the fsi pumps mount on) but that`s no indication they`re running different valve angles or whatever...

I'm sure there is a good chance that this car is faster, handles better and has more technology on it than my car....
but when I saw the RS4 for the first time with its swollen arches, aggressive stance and chiselled 'chin' I instantly wanted one.
Just don't get the same feeling with this.
Went back out to the garage and contemplated RS4 lines with Pepsi Max in hand for a couple of minutes :) .... still love it 8)

notice the torque figure, 317, same as the RS4, as one would expect since displacement V and compression ratio Cr have not changed
(T ~ V x (Cr x Vol eff)/4Pi)

power has increased from 420 to 450, this is mostly attributed to the rev increase (P ~ T x w , w = engine speed)
8250/7800 x 420 ~ 444, the other 6 HP is from increased vol eff at high engine speeds due to the 2 air intake tracks...
they also help it breath better, making the higher revs possible...
at low rpm's, ie, torque peak, it's hard to get any vol eff gains due to the low air velocity...

I am sure the car will be great in the flesh, and more likeable as even more details (flat bottom steering wheel!) are released and for sure it will be the last non-turbo V8. The sound should be to die for.

The price, however, will be key for us in the UK.

think its the arches, on the previous RS4/6/4 they are much rounder, thus more pronoucned

on the C6 RS 6 and now this S5, they are "squarer" and so no quite so imposing, more subtle

also, whats going on with the RS wheels...? normally RS wheels are the dogs dangles and become the next audi wheel of choice

but the RS 5 seems to have just taken the TT-RS wheels

I have been told of a car in Germany that has been seen that already has this. Essentially they have modified the standard air intake to put on the other side and moved the washer bottle and hydraulic fluid tank plus something else I cannot remember into the bulkhead where the fake battery cover is and had a custom built dual entry intake port fitted where the single entry one is now and obviously the front has been slight revised to include the air intake funnel.

Hey P_G, you seem to know everything (are you with Audi?), how about an RS5 forum, that would make it easier for everyone.

Let's just hope the power issue's are not here with this car.

The S3, S4 (V6T) which are Turbo'd / Supercharged and the R8 V10 which is pretty much a Lambo engine, are not just equalling power claims, but in most instances exceding them. Let's see if Audi can achieve this without question with their own N/A engine. If they can, then this will definately be a fast car.

Is there going to be a manual version? I'm not so sure!!

No manual planned from what I'm reading.

The wheel choices are awful, on the bright side at least it might stop Audi cheapening the RS brand by sticking them on every other can they produce afterwards.
