Decisions
Here's my problem, I've now looked at quite a few rs5's and short listed 2, the problem is they are both nearly identical apart from one has a sports exhaust and the other doesn't. Now here is the issue, the one without the sports exhaust is 4k cheaper, so it worth paying the extra 4k and getting the one with the ports exhaust or going for the one without and maybe going for a after market one?
Re: Decisions
I would say save 4k and buy an aftermarket one.
Good luck with purchase.

Re: Decisions
The sports exhaust is not worth it IMO.
Get an aftermarket centre section which deletes the centre boxes and retains the OEM valves. Anyone that heard my RS 5 will concur about how good it sounded. Totally blows away the miltek system. My old RS is up for sale at Bath Audi if you're interested in that? Good price and big spec.

Re: Decisions
So am I right in saying the only difference with a sports exhaust is that it had the flaps that open and close?
Re: Decisions
I think both have the flaps as mine was non sports initially and I can change the flaps.

Re: Decisions
Audi 'Sports Exhaust' option. Marketing Department Triumph. A pair of aftermarket hi-flow filters give you a better noise

Re: Decisions
I test drove two RS5s one with and one without the sports exhaust, I thought there is a marked difference between the two. Switch to dynamic mode in an RS without the sports option and there is a slight increase in noise, only really volume that seems to increase. With the sorts exhaust equipped RS is seemed to produce more bass and volume, you certainly could tell you were in dynamic mode even at idle.
Given the choice, I'd go for the sports exhaust option if I was spec'ing a new car but at 4K, that's far too much for just an extra bit of volume and bass, you could almost buy an Acrapovic for that!

Re: Decisions
As Nicky says, but the cheaper car and delete the centre boxes, retaining the rear boxes, valves and finishers. Supersprint do a centre box replacement X pipe. Nicky, did you ever establish who did your exhaust, I recall at ADI when you'd only just bought the car, you and the dealer still weren't sure?

Re: Decisions
Sports exhaust is still pointless. The difference is tiny. You either want a loud exhaust or you don't, the valves let you have quiet and loud .... OEM with or without sports worst just gives you quiet and less quiet

Never figured it out mate. All I know was it sounded glorious.Ian_C wrote:As Nicky says, but the cheaper car and delete the centre boxes, retaining the rear boxes, valves and finishers. I really miss it and am unsure whether I'll get a V8 again. Waiting for the new RS 3 which is likely to have the 2.5T again but uprated.
Although could wait for the F-type R to drop to around 50k, then I'll have a V8 please.

Know what you mean about the V8. I'm glad I bought mine after deliberating so long, eventually caved in and let heart rule head. You drive cars like the current S3 and it makes cars like mine look absolutely pointless and prehistoric. I'd love one in a few years, its plenty quick enough for me, I'd probably just get myself banned if I bought a B8 S4 and chipped it!

Re: Decisions
Thank you all for your input, I have the 2 stealers ringing me tomorrow who have each of the cars, so will try and play off against each other just for fun before I make the final decision.
