Gang of burglars tried to steel my RS5

Post by Crash Master » Sat Apr 21, 2012 7:47 pm

At 1:42 Thursday morning 4 large masked men armed with crowbars broke into my house to get the keys to my car, they ripped the toilet window out of the frame and came into the house.

As soon as they opened the door to the utility the alarm sounded and all four were seen by a couple of neighboours pegging it up the road. The wife and kids were terrified and live in constant fear.

Later a neighbour remembered seeing a vehicle outside for 30 minutes around 10pm scoping the house.

I have bought 2 cameras, IR lights for front and rear, window locks until the UPVC windows come, and I'm adding a PIR into the downstairs toilet.

Police have said this is now an epedemic, they call it Operation Mainstream which tells you everything you need to know, they said that gangs of burglars have got together all over the country just to nick car keys. The Police said it's a ready made gettaway vehicle, they drive it into a container and have no stolen goods on them when the Police kick in their door, the rewards are higher, and the break in takes less time.

Their view was that due to technology vehicles are too hard to break into but houses are dead easy, 6-7 seconds! Nicking DVD players and TV's is no longer profitable as they have to store them somewhere and supermarkets sell them so cheap the stolen market has diminished.

The Police said these weren't professionals, he said there are lots of pro's doing this and they come in with knives and sometimes guns and don't care about dogs and alarms, he said they will instantly kill the dog and put a knife to the throat of your wife and demand the alarm code and keys.....

Doesn't bode well for the future of my beloved ownership, I would lose sooo much money I can't even sell it, very scary.

Wow, sorry to hear your news, glad to hear the wife and kids are ok, although extremely upset and traumatised.

Definitely a growing trend towards these types of thefts.I don't think you can do much than your doing with regards to cctv and extending the alarm. If you have got doors with euro locks make sure the barrels are not the type that can be 'snapped', as this is also an increasing crime.

Another attack has happened 4 minutes down the road to a fellow club rider, they broke in to take their RS6 and Q7, probably the same gang.

Thankfully the house alarm sounding saved the day again.

i think all Audi RS owners in the area should be put on alert. Stealing to order i reckon.

I hope they meet up with a nice dog at the next one they do

this is horrible :(

hope the scum kill themselves in a fireball :knob:

they only slight glimmer of hope is that with BMWs being so easy to program keys for they will all take the easy option and leave the RSs alone

Where is the aftermaket for a stolen RS5? It cannot be very good, seriously, because this is a very rare car. You steal anything rare and you are pretty much f*****.

I wish you and your family the best and hopefully the authorities will de-tangle your issues. Stay strong. :FIREdevil:

Cheers!
