Fake aluminium intakes are bad enough. But bling wheels are the worst bit for me.

Just sitting at the airport having been to the Geneva morotshow yesterday and this morning. And I have to report the Audi stand and the RS5 were a massive disappointment. Few sales staff there, majortiy were Palexpo corporate people or security and the RS5..... who chose to show it in red with chrome wheels?

Also, the chrome splitter and rear valance look naff and as with the R8 V10 spyder, the oval are actually inserts into the bumper and if you look inside them the quad round exhaust pipe sit inside them, they are not even attached like on the RS4.

Audi, you have seriously missed out and I will not be tradin up my RS4 for one, even used.

As for the stand, they have the RS5 on one corner, then the A1's (also a disappointing car) at the back and then all models are white except the R8 spyder, TT-RS and RS6 Avant placed one behaind the other which are all in nappy sh**e brown and then the D4 A8 at the back of the line which is nice.

Overall, a disappointing display. Lamborghini looked after us much better!

From what you say, pics of Audi stand may not be that inspiring, but the rest sounds better. . Look forward to seeing them.

Am I the only one expecting great things from this new RS?

I agree the launch seemed to lack pzazz. The youtube video of the formal presentation was so dull & even the great man Piech looked bored & unimpressed.

You are right - the dark colours will be better.

The dark blue looked great.

I'm looking forward to it as tbh I think as David says it'll look great with the right colour and wheels.

Also, I love the high revving V8, and the way things are going there may not be many more in the future with all this global warming BS.

There is a lot of pessimism, more so on the Audi forums it seems aswell.

But if you go back to threads from when the info on the RS4 was released there was a similar reaction. Then came the road tests and "that" top gear review and everyone saw what an awesome car it really was.

There were a lot of manufacturers who has changed their stands from the opening day presentations because that S1 was not there anymore. Yesterday Bentley had a lime green grand sport convertible but when walking past this morning they were changing that for a white one which sounded great (the tunnel under Palexpo is a brilliant place to be at 8am)

I've always thought the A5 body looks better in the flesh, certainly underwhelmed by the show car and really cannot understand Audi's selection. If I go for one it will probably be similar to my RS4, mugello, optics and privacy. I haven't seen the design of the larger wheels, has anyone got any pics? Better get off now before someone complains about trespassing on the RS4 site.

That's the thing though, and maybe it was to do with the colour, but TBH it was uninspiring. When I first saw the RS4 at my local dealer it look fabulous, the flared arches, agressive grille, the twin oval exhausts and the wheels and brake, just excellent. But we are four years on and in the RS5 it appears that all we have from 4 years of development is 28 bhp more because of another air intake and twin throttle bodies and an inflationary increase in its price.

For those who do not have a B7RS4 I'm sure the RS5 will be their RS4, however going from the former to the latter I don't believe will make a significant difference. That said I suppose their targety audiences are also different in most respects.

I just don't understand why Audi chose the colour as it was. Lamborghini and Masserati on the other hand... wow. Matt satin white pearl is the future!
