They've got to be close to their rival's current models price and spec
RS6 / M5 new price might suggest otherwise :-(
Although I sincerely hope you're right.

Good point ,but i wonder if the sales have been as good as expected ?
Mint Optic Pack saloon in Daytona Grey (Now sold)
B7 RS4 in Sprint Blue (Gone to a very good new home)

Thanks for that. That's sensible pricing, but we have to see the necessary options.
It will be a while till the options and prices come out

Sorry, but sensible compared to what? That's a basic price! From memory my RS4 saloon was 52k with what i believe is a good spec.

20" wheels appear to be optional, plus sat nav, plus sports seats, plus adaptive headlamps, PDC, CD /mp3, phone prep, cruise, all at a guess 5-6K maybe (probably!) more? and don't even start with the ceramic brakes!

They'll no doubt sell the whole production run, but the expected cost puts me off. C63, GTR, 911, M3 all represent better bang for your buck and before you start looking at used cars.

I'd be amazed if they were. Can't imagine there'd be a massive que for a 80k estate during one of the worst recessions ever, regardless of how desirable it is.

Which is why the M5 Touring/ RS6 Avant make good used bargains if you need the size of the car and you can afford the fuel.

$70k fully loaded at that time equated to £35k sterling.

Excluding Ceramics, a full spec UK car was about £60k, so you are about right.

Quick look at old nightshift fav Broadspeed.com. This is UK dealer supplied as a factory order. Ten grand more for a basic RS5 seems a quite a bit OTT. Comes out at 61k on the BMW configurator for reference.

your tax is 17.5% ? ouch
ours is 6%, so on a $50,000 car that's a $5,750 difference in tax alone...

how much to license/register/inspect a car per year?
ours <$75

jeepers arthur, you'd be horrified!

Yes 17.5% VAT!
As from this year the first year of ownership (of an RS5 for example) is going to attract a showroom tax of £950 and will be £435 every year after. Tax rates are based on CO2 emissions. It's really cheap if you drive a tiny car or indeed free for some.
Annual inspection only takes place after the third year then annually but isn't so bad.
Insurance for me is £500 annually for my RS4
Fuel currently £1.15 per litre.

All in all, you need to not think about it too much!!
