Just looking around and 400bhp seems a good proposition but has anyone on here done it yet?

Someone on SRS looked to tune his HERE

I've done a few things,

had the car since the beginning of December,

First step was the Revo stage 1 map with SPS

This really livened up the car, I did a trip to the alps last month and managed to see some big numbers on the speedo,

This also was after the H&R sport springs and the wheels were changed

But the car seemed a little tame still, not obviously supercharged

Last week the APR stage 2 intake arrived and The car sounds a little more aggressive and the supercharger is more obvious and seems to rev more freely

Committed to a couple more elements today,

Just ordered an AWE full system exhaust with non resonated downpipes to Add the final touch

Add all those up and it is supposed to be around 420bhp, hoping to get a custom tune using the REVO mapping to suit all the above and then get it dyno'd


I've also got a podi steering column pod boost gauge on order

I have a Stratmosphere Hypershift quick shifter on my 6MT car and it is very very nice. I have an APR Stage2 Carbon intake pipe on order (not the whole carbon airbox yet, as on close inspection it really cannot possibly be restricting things unless I'm missing something) and I hope this will bring out a bit more of the supercharger's presence. By the sounds of your comments, it will. Do you have the full airbox and intake pipe, like this http://www.goapr.com/products/intake_ca ... 0tfsi.html ? And did you get it from the APR Tuned people in Croydon by chance?

As posted on another thread, those MTM-Cantronics boxes seem to be the ones to have, as they're removeable in 10 mins max and add so much everywhere - in the case of a mate's car 437bhp and about 415torx. Economy picks up a bit too - what's not to like!

the S2 pipe is really nice, I think that helps release the supercharger noise a little more than the airbox,

the carbon box almost doubles the size of the hole the airbox is drawing through, on the stock unit, there is a dam inside the airbox right after the inlet pipe that acts as a restirction and forces the air filter to pull from the volume of the airbox, rather than the stream of air coming into the box.

Yes that is exactly the setup I have, S1 airbox and S2 pipe,
I got mine from PSItuning in Newcastle under lyme I couldn't get hold of the guys in Croydon, they were my closest, and seeing you're in Guidlford, yours too, but it came mail order in 3 days from psituning and is a really nice quality item.

I am after getting the APR supercharger pulley, but I think they only sell that to you if you have an APR stage 1 map, as I've got the Revo, they also said they were thinking of doing a pulley kit when I was at their site, and I have heard that AWE are looking at this too,

I will check out the MTM options, although binning the SPS now would be a costly exercise when they are only just getting started and I think there is stil la little more to come with this engine

how does the short shifter feel, I was reading about it on audizine, but I'm not sure of some of their frames of reference when it comes to how it feels

I spoke to PSItuning and they're going to get back to me today with availability - sound like nice folks. I'll try the S2 pipe first and see how I get on.

The manual change in my car is slightly 'Ferrari-like' when cold, in as much as 2nd is stiff to engage when the box is stone cold. Once warmed however, the 6-speed is a nice box with a pretty positive shift, albeit long of throw. When resting my left arm on the rest and doing the relaxed gearchange thing, I found that the fore and aft movements were so long that my hand almost came back to the arm rest and I would find myself retracting the rest to make more space. Then I saw the Ad for the Stratmosphere Shifter.

It is good value and beautifully made. It's a shame it sits out of sight as it is a piece of pure engineering excellence, as is often the way with so much of the American aftermarket stuff - they do take things seriously! There's a video online that shows it fitted in 8 minutes by a Stratmosphere mech, but speeded up to a 1minute YouTube vid. Instructions (very comprehensive) suggest less than 30 mins. In truth it took the QStuning chaps about an hour.

Shift is definately what you'd describe as rifle-bolt now. When I drove it home from the workshop, the box was warm and the changes were great. Plenty of feel, not quite S2000 snickety, but definately far more direct and short throw than before. I'm a bit old-school and like double-declutching and Heal&Toe stuff, so for me it is an absolute pleasure to use and very satisfying. It highlights the need to get the clutch fully disengaged when changing quickly, but that's probably a good thing, as the leverage in std form would allow far more force to be applied.

Only downside is that the 2nd gear engagement when stone cold - as the past couple of weeks - is even more reluctant, but that's not a change in the box as such, just that the leverage is less. For the first couple of miles I usually pop 3rd instead of 2nd and then it's fine. Once warm there's no problem of course. Well worth $149 in my book!

Fitted my APR Carbon Intake pipe. Easy to do, just needed a bit of 6mm ID vacuum hose and an 8mm-6mm reducing connector. Also relieved the mouth of the airbox a little to let it breath a bit easier. Sure hasn't made it any slower and it has just enough whine to make it interesting. Not put many miles on it yet, but will report further in due course.

Have also done the Battery Meter and VIM mod now, using my shiny new HEX-USB-CAN cable. Can't make the LapTimer/OilTemp Gauge mod work though, so will start a new thread on that for help...
