I know there has been some discussion about this but is there a DEFINITIVE answer, rather than opinion out there ?
Must admit I tire of trying to keep the stock exhaust tips clean, so looking for a chromed upgrade.
There are loads of B8 tips on Ebay but there is some doubt if they fit the S4 (mine's a B8, not B8.5).
So has anyone found a solution that works ? Are the stock tips welded on ? Do replacements have to be as well or are there push on / bolt on options ?

Can't really see what your trying to achieve, stock tips are chromed so how will changing them to another set of chromed tips keep them any cleaner?
Somebody on piston heads said that Audi had quoted over £200 for OEM tips, but having had a good look at mine they appear to be welded on so that may have been for new back boxes.
I just give mine a going over with autosol every now and then and they look fine @ 72k miles.
Regular cleaning is the answer

I don't think they are chromed. Stainless steel yes, but not chromed. Get dirty almost instantly and not easy to clean.

Stainless or chrome they'll still get dirty and need cleaning, how about painting them Matt black with high temperature paint?
