Clutch temp warning - torque limited

Post by sebgreen » Wed Aug 19, 2015 10:42 pm

This error has come up on my 2011 S4 DSG.

The car drives ok with it - the gearbox just changes gears at a lower rpm. After a reset at the garage it is back to normal. No doubt it will do it again. Mechanic says come back if/when it does and we can look at going down the new clutch route...

Anyone else had this problem or similar? Anyone know a solution that does not involve a clutch replacement?

Buy a new S4

Probably not the answer you were hoping for sorry, but there cannot be any other solution than new clutch packs, surely?

If that is the solution then it will have to be that - I was just wondering if there was any way to adjust the clutches via software or anything.

Thanks for that - so it does appear that the clutch can be adjusted via software.

I reset mine and it worked flawlessly for a while, the hard 1-2 shift has stare to return now though.

I felt the clutch slip today. Think it is time to investigate a new set

I thought the DSG unit was a sealed no serviceable component apart from the oil?

It is a gearbox. Audi have a habit of saying "replace the unit" when something goes wrong. Now they will repair it as a few specialist companies offer it so they were loosing business. It is not sealed. Just complicated.

Car had the mechetronics upgrade/repair kit done. Only got it back on Friday. Hopefully all sorted.

Well it obv depends on the problem. I haven't really tested mine enough to to say 100% solved.

I used a company call VAG Bolton in Manchester.

I was under the impression that VAG never supplied the mechatronic unit separately to consumers, and it was only available to dealerships for warranty work to keep repair costs down.

I guess the situation has changed?

The place I went to are approved by Audi, if that is even possible. Use all the same systems. Get access to all the updates - could see my car needed a gearbox software update and did it at the same time.

Showed me the systems they use and looked identical to the ones I have seen being yes at Audi.
