After much deliberating, 'umming and 'aaaring about exhausts for the S4, I've bit the bullet and opted for a pair of Powervalve rear silencers, which turned up yesterday....... A late birthday pressie to myself.... If the rain stops, I'll have them fitted at the weekend. Will try to shoot some video to compare sound quality and noise. If they sound as good as they look, I'll be chuffed. And leaving the original resonators in place should mean drone-free vocals for my S-tronic

Will be interesting to hear how you get on. If I keep my S4 Id probably go this route.

Yes, the exhaust does sound different. Its not loud, but a different sound quality. There is a much deeper grumble at lower rpm, so the engine is more pronounced. As revs rise, the sound level seems very similar to standard. Though its more noticeable for those following or being driven past. I need to pull some vid together - did my best with a sound meter and go pro, but it only shows very small dB increases (though 1dB is a 4x sound increase).
If you're expecting it to be loud, angry or shouty, then its not for you. Its my daily driver so I'm pleased that it hasn't over-powered the in-car sound level. Still quiet and non-intrusive with a balanced throttle or with cruise on, and a bit more vocal when the pedal is pushed, simply because one outlet bypasses the main silencer, but with a flow restriction to prevent it being too loud - its clever. No drone either. You could say its a subtle improvement and the sound has improved with use - not such an empty box noise now its internals are coated with fume residue. The larger tailpipes do complete the back of the car, though my original system didn't sit properly in the rear valance. Easy enough to fit.
I liked the fact that I could deal with Nige, the boss, though he needed a bit of a push as he wasn't too good at communicating progress. And a factory shutdown for summer hols delayed things further, though he did apologise. Whether you judge a pair of boxes to be worth £750 is another matter, though its all S/S construction and easily sellable. I would refit my standard boxes before selling the car and then re-use with my next S4. Not that I'm selling - still smiling.

Look good, still think they need to fill the aperture in the valance

Hiya,
Do you have a video of the sound yet?
Would love to hear it. I do like the new look and agree the standard pipes do look very small in comparison.

Ok Quattrokahn, I have something edited up, but its 11mb in its lowest res form as it shows use of my sound meter to measure sound levels too..... Not sure I can host it here, but I could email it to you?
