Stage 2 B8S4 from stage 2 B7RS4

Hey all,
I am considering the above move and posted this in the B8 rs4 section, I was wondering how you guys find the S4 stage 2 to live with also has anyone had a play with a healthy Rs4? (b7 or B8)
"Some good debating here all, thanks.
However just to add into the mix I have recently found myself seriously looking into buying a near new B8.5 S4 and saving 15k or so but also gaining the following advantages over an rs4:
Would go straight to MRC for a stage 2 - which then means 480hp +, sub 4 secs 0-60, sub 10 sec's 0-100 and high 11 sec 1/4 miles
Ability to tow
better MPG (not really bothered about this with the driving we do)
No DRC issues/knocks
Stealth sleeper looks?
Don't get me wrong an rs4 is a far more respected/better looking car and has the brakes/suspension to match but the stage 2 performance is extremely tempting and could be a nice boosted change after owning my b7rs for nearly 5 years (would miss the noise though
)
As with the rs6 option - I have decided committing the current cost to a car is not the right move for me so I am keeping my budget under 45k and staying a4 size"
Look forward to your comments
Cheers, Steve

I did have this quandary myself last year and in the end went for the RS5 instead of a tuned S5. It was the sound that made the decision for me and I don't regret it one bit. I love grumbling around town and every tunnel I follow the forum rules.

My 2p worth...
Test drove 3 b7 rs4s 2 which were stage 2 (1 standard for comparison) and then drove 1 b8 s4 with the stage 2 and that's the one I paid for and drove home that day. I loved the v8 don't get me wrong but I also love the supercharger whine and also grown very fond of the less gruff more smooth engine/exhaust note, obviously I haven't lived with the v8 so can't really compare over time
The power difference was/is immense and the dynamic mode in the s4 gives a very nice sporty ride and handles beautifully plus there aren't any drc issues looming over you! Mine already had h&r arbs and springs fitted so I'm sure that makes a difference (not driven an s4 without) so would fully recommend them, even my local Audi dealer commented on the set up and said how good it looked!
Looks wise, well that's always going to be a personal choice but I personally prefer the quad pipes at the back and also how it's that little bit more understated and the guys face in a new (can't remember the year) rs4 who can't quite work out how you're keeping up with him is great. I've also put the rs5/r8 brembos on the front of mine so can happily say the brakes now match the power.
Oh and also I'm a bit of a techy so love all the gadgets in the s4 and the flappy paddles - bot for everyone but I think the s tronic box is great, mines had the mrc magic on that as well so not sure on how it compares to stock but it's ace, get a nice little pop from the exhaust at full revs and the throttle blip changing down gives the 10 yr old boy in me huge pleasure!
Feel free to pm me if you have any questions or anything, enjoy choosing!
Jon

Excellent comparison there
Such a hard decision I love the v8 noise and Look of the RS for sure but I wonder if i would miss not haVing a power hike over mine after adding another 20k+

I love the RS looks too, again it's all personal in the end but I wouldn't swap mine for an rs, she looks sleek but it takes an extra look to see "supercharged" and the big rs brake blocks etc to know there's more to her than meets the untrained eye, then you disappear in to the distance with granted more purr than roar but it's effortless! To be honest with the box, I'd not heard of many issues, mines currently sat on 76k odd on the clock, it's had the stage 2 for about 2 years - I have all the paperwork (inc dyno graph

) if you'd be interested in exactly how long - and the box is, touch wood, sweet as a nut. Just had the gearbox service with a clean bill of health, it's an added expense I suppose but then other parts are cheaper than RS4 parts. You pays your money and takes your choice!
