Yes. Exhaust is next.

Looking at APR or Quicksilver rather than Milltek but not 100% decided yet. Waiting for Doug @ MRC to come back with a cost for the Quicksilver exhaust.

I have decided on the Quicksilver exhaust, Doug has ordered it & it is due for delivery mid May. But first the brakes are being upgraded with OE Brembo 8 pot calliper RS5 brakes this Friday. The standard S4 brakes are good, but after Bruntingthorpe then this Saturday giving Dream rides at Wallingford with the Sporting Bears, I definitely need the upgrade.

So brakes, exhaust then the cooling upgrade which Doug is just about to get to the market. Hopefully a bit more power will arrive with the last two??

I feel another Dyno check coming on post upgrades!!

I will be trying the new brakes out giving Dream Rides at The Super Car Siege at Leeds Castle on Saturday.

Whats the cooling upgrade - to reduce the air intake temp, or brake ducts?

Its to separate the supercharger cooling from the engine cooling. Ideally the supercharger water temp should be lower that the engines - See info below:

B8 3.0 TFSI Supercharger Coolant Performance System

Performance

Compressing incoming air such as all superchargers and turbochargers do to deliver increased volumetric efficiency and thus more power at every point of combustion creates heat that must be properly cooled again prior to entering the cylinders. Most all automotive enthusiasts have experienced this with even normally aspirated cars whereas in the cool winter days our cars clearly perform better than in the hot summer months. When increasing engine power or during spirited driving, and especially during brutal motorsport racing, the OEM supercharger cooling system quickly becomes taxed, creating a loss of engine performance.

Reliability

Heat is a major concern regarding the health of your engine. The engine's ECU takes many steps to reduce power output when temperatures rise, however it can only go so far. By reengineering the supercharger cooling system, it is able to not only keep performance consistent but also ensure your engine is more reliable by having done so.

As you know the B8 engines get pretty hot, which is not ideal when exploiting your cars performance. MRC have been trialing the cooling upgrade on Dougs S4 & it is ready to go, so seemed like one of the next steps to take :D

Makes sense, better for the engine, and better for power!

Any updates on the quicksilver exhaust? Had a search including the saddo YouTube exhaust listening, but cannot find any info on it anywhere. I'm probably going down the Milltek non res black oval route. Would have liked the APR but its a bit pricey.

I went for a Supersprint exhaust in the end rather than the Quicksilver. See the link below where it is on the S5 B8.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FGJ6xZq ... g&index=73

As a consequence it has still not arrived so fitting has been delayed. Its not Italy that is the problem it is the UK agent, they are not very good unfortunately. The exhaust is due next week we are told, so the plan is to have the cooling upgrade undertaken at the same time as it looks like that is ready to go.

Once the upgrades are completed, Doug will Dyno my S4 & hopefully it will be up in the early 500's. Exact figure will be posted when known.

Yes there is. Sorry I was meant to update this thread & haven't.

The Supersprint exhaust is on & sounds so much better than standard. It will never sound as good as a V8 or a V10 but makes the V6 sound good & you almost feel you could take part in a rev off!!
The tail pipes are larger & make the car look more purposeful. Other than the MRC badge the tailpipes are the main clue to the cars tuning as it still looks pretty stock otherwise.

Cooling upgrade was completed a couple of months ago just before ADI & is working well. I tracked my car at ADI & did an open track day at Oulton Park & the cooling makes such a difference to the engine temperature & how the car performs. Normally you can't put your hands on top of the supercharger after a run as it is so hot. With the upgrade you can put your hands on the top & feel how much cooler it is, so you know the upgrade is working.

It's a very neat installation. You can take a look on MRC's FB page, they took pictures as they undertook the work. I think the exhaust work is on there too.

Unfortunately I never got 500bhp. I have 484bhp on MRC's dyno & 492bhp (500ps) on AMD's dyno when we had the dyno day down there. I am inclined to go with MRC's dyno which, to be honest is good enough. I think I have gone as far as I sensibly can with my car without mechanical changes to the engine. That would start to cost serious money on top of the fairly serious money I have spent already, though I don't regret a penny of it. It's always a thrill for me to drive my S4, particularly when I can drive it hard. Thats when its all worth it.

Great review. Have you considered/done any suspension mods?

Yes I have. There are Bilstein PSS9 coilovers all round set at 70% along with H&R anti roll bars all done by MRC. The car is lowered around 35mm below the standard ride height.
I have also changed the tyres to Michelin Pilot Supersports, which I find better than the Dunlop Sport Maxx which came with the car as standard. There is some tramlining with them if a road surface is not good, but overall they have great grip & you can feel how far you can go with them on a corner.

The ride is pretty good still, though obviously harder then the normal set up. It's a good compromise though, I get a good track performance with excellent road performance & handling. Along with the RS5 brake upgrade I think I have good a pretty good package, thanks to Jules (Audi SRS meet chat) who told me about MRC. Also thanks to MRC who have undertaken the work & have been excellent when I have had any questions.

I also have a trial gearbox remap, which I think is due to be upgraded to the proper remap this month. I will update when I have more information.
