This is the weird thing. I didn't spec dynamic steering after reading it getting constantly slated. I did spec sports diff and ADS. I think they have included it anyway... Dynamic steering options are available in the MMI and it definitely changes with speed. It's devoid of any meaningful feedback though. Anyone had any experience of Audi throwing something like this in?Kiteral wrote:Get the sports diff but I personally don't like the dynamic steering, it removes a lot of the steering feel compared to the A4 B8 3.0tdi I had before.
Perfect handling spec would be Quattro sports diff, drive select suspension but normal steering. Also dynamic steering means you can only get the car tracking and alignment done at Audi dealers and they are pretty crap at it.

Re: Countdown has started
I would not be happy about that !
There is potentially nothing wrong with having the dynamic steering but when it comes to alignment time it's a right pain in the butt. IMHO I would ask the supplying dealer for free alignments of life as they are not cheap with the dynamic steering option.

Dynamic steering basically alters the turn ratio, I'd say that you have the same spec as me where the MMI just makes the steering heavier when in dynamic mode. I thought they'd put it on anyway, which would be very un-audi like, but they hadn't.gangstarrrrr wrote:This is the weird thing. You will know you have dynamic steering if in comfort mode it steers like a lazy yank limo, in auto it feels about right, and in dynamic it is super sensitive and quite heavy.
I think Longdog is right there is a dynamic steering option in the car option bit but it may not be the full dynamic steering option hth

Certainly hope you guys are right, supplying dealer is about 300 miles away! Will get a picture up of the MMI and will pay more attention to the steering in different modes.Kiteral wrote:You will know you have dynamic steering if in comfort mode it steers like a lazy yank limo, in auto it feels about right, and in dynamic it is super sensitive and quite heavy.

Re: Countdown has started
Thats reassuring as I opted out of the active steering for these very same reasons

Re: Countdown has started
Well I had my S4 delivered late last night and from the little I've driven it in the snow and freezing temps I'm very impressed! Interior is a million miles ahead of my B7 RS4 and exterior wise it looks better than it does in the pics. In terms of performance I've not been able to drive it hard yet but I can see it's not much slower than my RS4 if at all which was putting out about 385.
