So what's the averae now then?

I took 550superfast out in mine yesterday and he has a pre FL S4 which apparently are a bit more thirsty?

He was surprised to see that my average when I arrived was 20

My S4 is a 2011 car, so not as fuel efficient as the 2012. Averaging 21mpg around Sussex. But today went on a motorway run and did a bit better, I was really trying though.

Felt like it. I was showing my brother the car. Included launch control twice and basically my foot buried to the floor for the whole time, most fun I've had in it. Reminded me why I love it and actually how capable it is.

I must have been edging on RS4 economy with that 13.7mpg. My range is 44.1mpg to 13.7mpg in this car now.

The only time I've seen lower than that (7.8)was when I was in traffic

On a run I've not seen it that bad!

Did not know they had launch control - how and what does it do?

Holds the revs at apparently optimum level (different for every car obviously but say 4.5k) for a quick get away and effectively dumps the clutch and sends you down the road.

Can't remember the procedure exactly but it was something like TC off, gearbox in sport, foot on brake and throttle to the floor where it will hold revs at pre determined maximum. Then just let go of brake

I did it a couple of times in the TT and I just cringed at the lake of mechanical sympathy going on so haven't done it in either mine or the Porsche.

Some road tests claim it is quicker not to use it? Maybe it depends with it is forced induction or not.

You are right with your description.

I saw that's its not quicker in some cars such as a 911 Carrera. It's bloody brilliant in the S4 and definitely quicker, gives a lovely punch back into the seat.

Do you not cringe when you hear it and fear for your diffs etc

I know when it came out in the m3 SMG they said you could only use it 3 times or something before it invalidated the warranty

I've probably done it 5 or 6 times and to be honest no. Audi mention nothing about invalidating warranty with using it so I'm not overly bothered. The only thing I don't like is the lump when you let go of the brake.

No Audi don't.

BMW did when they first launched the concept

I am not tempted to try this, I would like to get the car over to germany and open it up though.
