Cost of replacement keys

Post by Les » Tue Jan 29, 2013 9:17 pm

Guys as you know I'm planning to buy a S4 very soon however tonight it's come to light the guy only has one key for the car :bash:
I'm not happy about this as i think the key will be expensive and I don't see why i should cover this!
Does anyone know how much a replacement will be please? 2010 B8 S4 (just in case).
My guess is anywhere from £150 - £300!!!!!!

Thanks and ouch! Would I be right that with the new style keys they may cost even more to replace?
I remember my RS4 key and you insert it, turn it like a normal key then push the start button whilst the new ones you push in and then push again to start. Hands up anyone who thinks :audibash: made the new ones cheaper than the old ones.

I think I would be a bit concerned about a 2010 car with only 1 key. Have you done a check to make sure it isn't dodgy?
Current car: 2007 BMW 530d touring.

That's it Les, that's the RS4 key, how do I know these prices I here you ask....well I was on the phone to them only yesterday as lost my key Saturday while out on the source. Lucky I have a spare and also key cover on the insurance so won't cost anything to replace.

Reckon the 2010 key will cost more but I would get the seller to sort it out.

The coat aye thought so, not something you forget a RS4, reckon I remember every little detail on that car, what a car. That will teach you to go out on the p*ss :drink:
That said not that long ago I lost my Subaru keys for the same reason however I had simply left them lying on the bar whilst raking in my pocket for cash :beerchug: they kept them there till I came looking for them the next morning.
batfinnk you're not wrong but I've done a full hpi on it with all the required information and she comes back clean. Bye the way you from Aberdeenshire at all loon?

Hi Les, nice to see another S4 owner from Aberdeenshire - fit like!

Noticed your reference to Batfinnk and loon - I got confused at the start as well but it's short for saloon. For folk outwith this neck of the woods and wondering what we're on about, a 'loon' is a man. Don't ask!
