VCDS cable, now what to do?

Bought myself a VCDS cable and software the other day off fleabay, made sure it was one that worked with the newer cars and not just the 2003 models that so many seem to be limited to. Now I have it I know I can check error codes and make a few changes if I'm feeling brave, so what would be a recommended list of things to fiddle with? Btw, mine is a 2G MMI with TV and phone prep low.

First one I'm going to look into is the Video in Motion, I believe this is fairly straight forward?

I seem to remember from my B7 A4 days the the RNS-E could be hacked so if you had phone prep low it could be changed to high via the cable and software, is this the case with MMI? My understanding of High is voice commands to change inputs on the MMI rather than just phone commands.

Anything else to play with?

Shamelessly copied from a post on the web by 'the one and only' Mr gdavidon

Things to play with on a C6RS6 with Vagcom & Hidden Menu
Thought I'd put a thread together on what we know we can do with a Vagcom/VCDS Cable on a C6 RS6

Enable The HiddenMenu - This seems to be a fundamental thing as it allows other settings to be simply done without reverting back to the Vagcom cable
http://trick77.com/2009/07/23/unlocking ... dden-menu/

The Hidden Menu then enables...
Battery Status

MP3 Ripper to Hard Disk
Main > Diagnose >Settings >Import Multimedia
It was factory set at [copy/no ripping] 3/4
Set it to [copy/ripping] 4/4
You just then put an audio CD in the DVD drive, and select import. It will then pop up as a source.

Check current DTCS's

Vagcom other enables / settings
Watch TV / DVD in motion

Add:
Speed through GPS (not sure how useful this is):

Electronic park brake release (for changing rear pads):

Add this link to the resource (embedded in the first post from link above ^): http://a6retrofit.tripod.com/articles/a5vagcodes.html
In here you will find how to enable/disable TPMS, plus a few other tricks.

CAUTIONARY NOTE: Also, just some advice, be sure not to change anything in Vagcom without recording the steps you went through to get to that menu, and what the values where prior to the change, it is very easy to make a mistake with big ramifications. If in doubt, stay out

Enjoy
