High octane fuel

Post by luffenham1 » Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:26 pm

Just a quick question. Does ron98 plus really work. It's says Ron 91 to 95 on the fuel cap. Anyone have any advice on this or do we all use Ron 98 or high due to our semi race engines we have.

I always use BP ultimate RON 98. ( sounds like a bleedin' commercial)

High octane fuel

I've found BP ultimate to be pricey and no better than boggo 95 RON. Shell V-Power (99 :) ) is the business. Tesco Momentum (also 99) is the second choice.

Gutted, the only high end fuel here in NZ is BP Ultimate 98. As Shell V Power here is only 96 :(

i use UK Shell V Power 98 Octane, as in Germany they still do the 100 Octane! If I can't get V Power is use BP Ultimate.

V Power is 99 Oct?! or Tesco Momentum (99) only for me, and yes it makes a difference.

I used to use BP ultimate but changed to Shell V power about a year ago, I find it feels "perkier" on V power. Interestingly Mrs D changed around the same time for her Brabus Smart but is going back to BP as she gets much better Mileage on BP and no noticeable difference in driveability.

The "other" board has a debate on BP versus Shell http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=95392 and ethanol content

Easy choice here in western australia - can only get 98 RON BP ultimate or 98 RON Caltex Vortex. Ironically , both come from same and only BP refinery down the road at Kwinana. Caltex must add its 'special vortex ingredients' to the tanker on its way to the petrol station. Forgive my cynicism.
