Shock absorber prices.
Shock absorber prices.
I'm in the process of sourcing a RS6 C6 AVANT, found a couple , 2008 one in particular looks good, never failed MOT, fsh, 91k, had oil pump drive seal done , but has just developed a small leak from osf shock , was damp , now classed as leaking , I've tryed to locate a replacement shock online but can't find any ? Anyone point me in the right direction please ?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Shock absorber prices.
I can't help with an aftermarket Shop etc (I'm fairly sure only a dealer will sell new ones) but they are around £250 a strut/shock but the biggest issue is the DRC - the hydraulic ride adjustment which links all 4 struts together - which will need bleeding and re-pressurising after the shock is replaced. It requires relatively specialist equipment to do this with the car risking heavy damage to the other 3 struts if it's driven before this is carried out.
The Pt No for a UK car's OSF strut is - 4F0412020B but there is an older version 4F0412020A available too.

Re: Shock absorber prices.
Thanks , puts my mind at ease I thought it would run into thousands ..
Re: Shock absorber prices.
I'm sure they are a lot more than 250 a strut but I srand ready to be corrected.. I had to replace one about a year ago. Even just the DRC hoses are quite expensive for what is essentially a brake hose with a different fitting on the end.
Re: Shock absorber prices.
Ok so I'm struggling , the strut is approx 480 for Audi branded , 2 hrs to fit , so at about 700 at indi, but seems they can't pressurise the system back up only main stealers ! They are supposedly giving me a price .. now I imagine it's 4 figures
anyone had one done

Re: Shock absorber prices.
Sorry, I'm a moron, I mixed up the Strut price and DRC pipe price so it was £250 per DRC pipe not per strut.Martyns wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2020 1:27 pmOk so I'm struggling , the strut is approx 480 for Audi branded , 2 hrs to fit , so at about 700 at indi, but seems they can't pressurise the system back up only main stealers ! Re: Shock absorber prices.
Where are you based? I know that, for example, MRC can sort the DRC out...

Just to close the loop on this post you can get a DRC strut for 425.00 discounted if you Shop around and yes its only available as on OE part from Audi/TPS but those boys do haggle sometimes
Labour and fluid to depressurise the system, change it and pressurise it again is heading towards 400.00 in round figures at a reputable independent
If you did it yourself you can just pay for the pressurising of the system for 150.00 but you have the pain of trailering the car to them, shock comes dry and car cannot be run with it dry.
