Engine oil leak (again)

Hi from Hong Kong,
Quick question - how many of you guys (and girls?) have had an oil leak which needs the removal of the engine to repair?

My 2009 RS6 had it done by Audi in September 2013 at 61k klms and now needs it again at 113k klms which I think is a bit rich..
To be honest - I noticed it about 18 months ago however it was just the odd few drops only noticeable when the car was parked and used the same adage quoted in an earlier post "The 20th century solution to oil leaking out the bottom of the engine is to put more oil in the top" - which made me smile!!

Photo attached of the car minus the radiator showing the oil - oh by the way shes also developed a coolant leak too - when it rains it pours!!!

Thoughts and experiences would be helpful.

Cheers and stay safe...

Hi Andy,

had a similar issue. In my case it was the seal of the high pressure line at the bottom of the oil filter bracket. It filled up the top of the engine block and the oil searched its way to the front of the car. Looking at your picture and seeing the oil dirt on the right cylinder head, it seems that the oil originates from the top of the engine block like it was in my case. Simply look under your intake manifold and check for oil there. In my car, I thought the oil module is leaking, but in fact it was all caused by oil running down from the top of the engine.

best and take care

Ruedi

Hi Andy -

Re: Coolant Leak - Do you know about the leak that lots of UK cars are getting where the coolant pipes, which are behind the right wheel under the plastic arch liner, are corroding?

Here's an old page with some pictures of the pipes and their location (and some oil pump leaks pictures too, probably not the cause of your oil leak) - https://imgur.com/a/atMZnwF

Thanks Ian - I'll check - but we don't have a problem with salt on our roads here so corrosion isn't such a problem.
However excess heat is, as it can get up to 35-40 degrees C with 100% humidity which means the car needs a lot of cooling.
I note your location as being Stoke and Saudi Arabia - did you run an RS6 in the middle east?

Having checked out the Oil and Water leaks - its obvious that the engine has to come out which means I'll be needing parts...lots of them!!!
Can anyone recommend a supplier for genuine Audi parts please?

Thanks in Advance...
