Coolant loss

Good day all.

Car is at Glasgow Audi having some suspension parts replacement (drop links etc), CV boot, track rod end, discs and pads and a service.

A week before handing the car to Audi, the coolant warning light came on. I filled the coolant system back up but just before taking the car to Audi, the coolant warning light came back on. Audi have pressure tested the system and state its ok and I must monitor the level.

Does someone here have any previous experience of coolant loss, even though the pressure test was good?

Thanks

Jamie

I believe there is two coolant tanks in engine one up top and one underneath at rear my 2nd tank had a hairline crack in it.

Thanks for the reply @rtd, greatly appreciated.

Are there 2 separate cooling systems? If only 1 system, I thought a system pressure test would identify that.

I'm presuming Audi pressure tested when engine off, I'm wondering if it is something that is occurring when running only.

Honestly I have no idea will ask the guy who sorted it for me. The part itself isn’t very expensive it’s just the location of where it is hence labour is biggest cost.

Will get details and get back to you.

Two tanks - one in the engine compartment and the other is under the RH wing. The coolant tank cap has a pressure release valve which is supposed to be self-sealing - a pressure test should include a test of the cap.
