Audi Extended Warranty is due up for renewal, eyeballing the latest warranty t&c's and it seems to have got worse:
No cover for coolant pipes / corrosion
No cover for inherent 'design faults'
No longer transferable
All for a bargain £1200
Anyone else think it's now not worth it?

I got mine on the basis that I can afford the premium and regular maintenance but if it needs a new gearbox i'm screwed!

So what you told me on the phone yesterday about it covering the coolant pipes and the fact it is transferable and £800 wasn’t true then?
Or is this for the newer cars not the older V10s like you said?

Gavin - the warranty t&c’s are dependent upon when the warranty was taken out. The crap cover and price is based on new warranties if you go and take a new policy out now. As it happens the renewal came through at around the £900 mark on the existing conditions. No brainier.

So me taking out another year on your car would keep the existing terms even though it would be a new policy to me but not on the car?
Just checking because I really want the car but will need that peace of mind from Audi warranty.

Car sold - warranty transfer sent to new owner - enjoy!

10 year old RS6 would set me off ~2k per annum on warranty (e.g. £100 excess and no contribution for parts). Worth it?!
When you add everything together, Warranties these days are essentially covering labour charges and they are setup in such way where there are far too many caveats... or clauses for them not to pay (or contribute). I'm sure there is that rational "what if" but at this point in time i'm thinking that 2k could be spent more wisely elsewhere

I've had two engine out jobs done under warranty (oil pump leak, where I also had them change my corroded coolant pipes (I just covered the cost of the parts myself) and lambda sensors), split over two warranty periods, each (Audi charged) bill exceeding £4K.
Said repairs paid for the warranties almost 3 times over.
For things like this it's worth it.
