I’ve just put Gyeon Phobic on my Q5 and it’s epic for a ceramic

It’s north of £1200 for the paint correction work, it’s really in a very bad way there are areas that look like they’ve been washed with a Brillo pad the picture above shows some of it but in person it’s awful and then £300 for the ceramic coat.

Matt did tell me the coat he’s using but the name escapes me, I’ll find out.

I’ve already spent out on all the right kit for maintaining it. Water de-ionising filter, special microfibres, a master blaster dryer all the gear and no idea!!!

i've a master blaster, it's great! though it's not quiet, esp on the alloys.
I had a full machine paint correction, and Gtechniq applied, amazing results, perhaps mine wasn't as bad but the total cost was closer to £600

I did try using an aqua gleam? filter gave up after a while, have now connected the pressure washer to the softened water from the house supply, that combined with the master blaster made a massive difference, it's been 2 years or so, no wax, no polish and still beeds water link a banshee.

then the obvious 2 buckets method, microfibre mitts, snow foam as the staple wash method all seems to work.

and as someone once said, black isn't a colour on a car, it's a part time job!

A little teaser

BOOM!!! Worth every penny and that’s only half way through!! Scratch on the door, isn’t as bad in real life, it’s below the sight line anyway so you can’t see it from above

It’s getting there, the green spots of tape are areas he’s not happy with and will be working over again!!!

Swirls!! The enemy of us all!! Keeping them at bay has been a £700 investment in washing materials!!

Wash routine has completely changed

Pressure wash off
Clean wheels
Snow foam
Rinse
2 bucket method wash using a sheep skin wash mit
Pressure rinse
Open hose rinse through a de-ionised filter
Master blaster air dry
Plush microfibre topper treatment
Plush microfibre dry
Glass
Wheels

(This process isn’t final, it’s my guess from the products Matt has asked me to buy, I’ll get full upkeep instructions when I pick the car up)

With any luck the ceramic coat will keep the worst of the dirt from sticking so the pressure wash off and snow foam should remove the worst and very very careful 2 bucket method work after that only washing in straight horizontal lines.

Nice regime that, should do the trick. Grit guard for the buckets maybe?

Wait until it's refined  Still a bit of haze there from the cutting stages but unquestionably, a real improvement from the original condition.

Sounds like you have good care regime lined up too, which is really important as well.

It’s a huge improvement over where it was!! Can’t wait to have it back!!

Don’t want it to be too nice or I won’t drive it!!!

Getting it back Wednesday, then straight to the Phirm for the 50p oil seal!!

Full detail and ceramic coat

Post by House89 » Mon Apr 16, 2018 9:55 pm

Just been to drop the wheels back to Matt with the new £500 TPMS sensors fitted

Cheeky video.

Not finished still needs refining but once that’s done the ceramic coat will be going on.

Collecting Wednesday evening, straight to the Phirm then off to America, back from America next Thursday and then MRC on Friday!! 700bhp baby!!!!
