Wondering if anyone has come across this before.
The car starts perfectly from cold but once its been run for around 30 minutes and left when i come to start it when its still warm its very sluggish and smells strongly of fuel it does eventually start but take 3-4 attempts before it eventually fires.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

It may be your cam angle position sensor that is starting to act up.. I know that a faulty sensor like that can give similar symptoms.

Have you got a Ross Tech
VCDS to plug in?
What fault code(s) did you get?

That code is just a note to check the DTC memory of the engine ECU number 2. Check for codes in "Engine II" or whatever it's named in your code reader.
VCDS is definitely a worthy investment.

Adam did you end up finding out what your misfiring issue was?
I've got the exact same issue and have changed plugs, cleaned my MAP sensors etc and it still comes up occasionally.
I did change the petrol station i was getting fuel from and seemed to help and then it came back.
My issue seem to only come up when on low fuel loads such easy highway driving or light throttle
I have a service coming up soon and will be replacing air filters, spark plugs and core packs to see if resolves the issue. If not I'm starting to think I have a dirty or old injector on the way out and I believe you cannot replace one injector but a full set of 10 as they are matched from the manufacturer.
I did read somewhere that it also could be a dirty old fuel filter but believe the filter is part of the pump in the tank...can anyone confirm?

1st change fuel filter - it's a seperate part on passenger side - located between back door and wheel. When this don't help...you have to change the injectors. That's what I have done a couple of months ago...

sounds like lazy 02s if its light load and highway driving.

O2s are A OK, seems to be it's an injector issue but would assumed any stage 1,2 or 3 cars will decrease the life expectancy of their o2s with pushing richer and hotter exhaust gasses pass them.

Audi-RS6-R, did you by any chance have a part number for your injectors. I'm wondering if they are the same a the C6 S6? If so I may order some from ECS.

After some research it looks like the part number for our injectors is 079906036C and manufactured by Hitachi as OEM.
The Hitachi injector can also be found in the following models too
A6
A8
Q7
R8
S5
TOUAREG
...no need for the RS tax.

Do you have normal
VCDS?
You need to measure the fuel pressure in high pressure contour. After turning on ignition (w/o engine start) it should rise. If not - injectors are leaking. If it rise - this is not an injector problem and better to check sensors.

Yes I have
VCDS, but had the car in for a major service just before going on a road trip.
I had new spark plugs, coil packs and fuel filter installed as well as a carbon clean and the injectors serviced too.
Five of the ten injectors were found to be leaking but only very slightly and the mechanic confirmed this was causing the misfire on idle and low throttle loads as well as a tonne of carbon build up.
I hastley opted to stick with the old injectors only as I needed the vehicle a couple of days later for the road trip and my mechanic confirmed it would be fine to use but would slowly get worst and I'd need to replace all ten in the next 12 months.
Since the service the car hasn't thrown any CEL's so fingers crossed it hold out at least for another 6 months.
Will continue to monitor but have to say the car runs super smooth on idle now and a lot more responsive since all the work has been done.

I changed the cam sensor and that has fixed the problem
