Your thoughts on potential new wheels?

Post by Vieussuex* » Sun Jan 08, 2017 6:48 am

Been looking around for new wheel options for quite some time but it is very difficult to find something that are as good or better then the factory 20x9.5" "peelers" I do however think they are becoming a little plain now.
Options are also limited if you have 420mm ceramics and not all 20" inner barrel diameters will clear the ceramics.
I have looked at several options such as a factory 20x10" Q7 wheel but would need to run 15mm 5x130 to 5x112 adaptors and wasn't 100% on trusting a aluminium adapted holding the wheels on.
Image
I have also looked at some Bentley Supersport wheels but these are only a 20x9.5" wheel but looks to clear the 420mm ceramic disks as I believe the Bentley discs share the same part number.
I haven't been able to source a set here in Australia but there are a handful of sets on eBay.de and eBay.com but are priced the same as a custom forged set plus international shipping.
Image
I did find these by random on Google image search.

I did some enquiring and found out the photo above is a set of 22x10.5" Savini BM-7's in a titanium grey finish.
Now a 22" wheel I believe is a bit large but they do make it in a 20x10 and can do custom stud patterns, offsets and PCD. I've also been told they will clear the 420mm discs and calipers.

My RS6 is also Daytona Grey as per the Q7 above so I'm thinking it might go quite well together?
What are your thoughts people?

Looks an OK wheel but the 5 star style wheels tend to suit Beemers and Mercs better. Straight multi-spoke wheels tend to be better on Audis from the nougties.
No matter where you go, there you are.

I'm happy with my 22" Forgestar F14.
Ride quality not affected. Bumps no issues at all.

Very nice avant you have there Ungjaevel!
My only concern going to a 22" wheels is you would need a pretty low profile tyre, less meat to protect the rim from pot holes......the roads in Brisbane and Sydney aren't that great.

does look very good one 22's mate ! my only worry would be the extra £100 a corner for pilot super sports.
but it may be something i look at at is saves you having to lower the car but give you a good rim to arch ratio

I'm a big fan of the HRE P43sc's (as below) but the budget won't allow for it and I also have a big service coming up soon too.

I did also consider the VMR v702's in a titanium grey.

Spoiler is ILR Carbon.

Fair point with the rims being exposed to curbs/potholes. But we are quite limited in our selection when wanting >20" and having ceramic brakes.

I run Niche Essen 20 x 10, they are designed for the C7 so I had to use high quality spigots - runs to high speeds with no problems

They sit nicely on the fenders too. Do you mind telling what offset they are?

[quote="Vieussuex*"]

40mm - They clear everything, quite close to the back brake hoses, so make sure they're sitting exactly where they are supposed to be.
I've used 8mm (all around) spacers for shows - it looks the daddy! I don't use the spacers for high end runs and drag racing
