Edited to update - now buying this car. With the help of members on here my mind has well and truly been put at rest and I've even managed to have a 1-2-1 chat on the phone with the previous owner. All good news. Car is booked in with MRC for a health check and inspection just to be sure but all being well I will be one here a while :)

------

Hi All, been lurking a few days waiting for authorisation to post. Glad I'm now in :)

I've made the decision to get a car I've always lusted after and the other day I followed a black 2009 down the M5 and thought "sod it - why not".
So after an initial search I came up with three or four on Autotrader that fitted the bill. One turned out to be at a nightmare dealer (AMS Performance who have so many bad reviews it's laughable), one without enough spec and one that's almost there but has the silver grey interior which wasn't my preferred choice.
On 24th Dec I went to see this 2008 58 plate ( REG RS06AAA ), in black with 59k and full Audi History. Long MOT and it had two advisories (see attached)
The spec has got almost everything I wanted :
SatNav / voice control / Bluetooth phone control / Advanced Key / Power tailgate / memory seats / sunroof / 7 spoke alloys
Only thing it's missing is TV (not a big deal for me) and the dark leather.

So on to why I'm here. Firstly, does anyone know the car? It's had three owners and I've messaged the last one as I think I've found him on Facebook. Not heard anything back as yet but then it is Christmas and he doesn't look that active on Facebook anyway.
The dealer impressed me with his attitude to the sale. Ideally I'd buy a 'known' car on here but in an ideal world I need to PX my Mondeo TDCi Titanium X Sport Estate so the dealer route it is.

Car needs a few bits of paint doing and there are a few car park dunks in the doors. He's happy to do both of those bit (hopefully to my satisfaction). Both front alloys need returning, they are far from mullered but aren't as neat and tidy as the back ones.
Brakes passed the MOT but are mentioned in the last MOT. I'm asking the dealer to price up having them done so I know what I'm starting with. This will end up being part of the final negotiation.

The bit that worries me most is that I just don't know this engine - I think I might have found the right car too soon - maybe I should have been to see a few I didn't want first if that makes sense. I started the car and it started fine and came off choke quite quickly. I lifted the bonnet and visited the car in tickover using my iphone7. Now it sounded odd to me but then I've never heard this engine before!

So the dealer has agreed to have the car taken to MRC for one of their Inspection and Rolling road engine checks. This will be all at my cost. No idea when they can do it as they are obviously closed but I hope soon. When there I hope they'll also look at the "50p seal" I'm reading so much about as well as the pipes in the wheel arch recess and the misting in the shock absorber mentioned in the last MOT.

Thoughts?

FON

Welcome to the forum. She looks and sounds healthy. I really like the blue exterior contrast with the light leather interior.

thank you for my welcome, glad to be here. I intend to contribute what I can although I confess my knowledge is significantly greater about Lancia Integrale and Lancer EVO 7 Gta's. Oh and photography.
You may want to adjust your monitor though as this C6 is most definitely Phantom Black not blue Image

Ha! It may be time to visit the opticians.

Saying that what setup have you got for the interest you share?

I delved deep in my savings last year and decided to make the leap and buy the 5D mark iii with the 24-70 2.8, I am absolutely chuffed with the setup.

Hi Studiowise - here's the obligatory FON (<-----click it).

Using a specialist is an extremely good idea although you're already aware of the few weak spots (oil seal, coolant lines and the DRC, which is starting to become a more common problem) so don't be shocked it MRC find a few bits. The video sounds just right as the ticking is the very high pressure fuel system, which sounds like a sewing machine! It also looks like it's already got a Milltek exhaust system fitted looking at those tailpipes too.

New OEM discs are £800-ish but for the same price (personal preference ahead) I think the AP Racing 390mm Discs are miles better than OEM (lighter, last longer, better cooled etc).

Now enough of the car rubbish, lets talk Nikon :D

This is the reason I joined - that's all very reassuring - thanks - you have MADE my bank holiday! I had so many Facebook idiots telling me different things about how they should sound. If it's hot Miltek then a stage 2 could be in the cards!

I will gladly chat Nikon any time :)

I never got to ASM, called them and was instantly put off by them closing me on the phone. Gave them the benefit of the doubt as I liked the car spec they had (although they had it listed as 2009 but DVLA had it as a 2008 58).
Then I googled them as a business - have a read here > http://www.cardealerreviews.co.uk/deale ... re-england

Decided that no matter how good the car seemed, if anything should need sorting then there is little chance they'd stand by any kind of warranty let alone consumer rights legislation.

Good call on getting MRC to check the car over and as Ian, said dont be alarmed if they find certain things - it's when they say 'right so we checked it over and found a few bits but there was also...........' that's when you run and run fast lol.

jokes aside good luck C6 is an amazing car even if it wants to bankrupt you each time you start it up :-(
