Hi all.

I'm thinking of buying this car tomorrow;
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... 51&adPos=1

I'm having it inspected but wondering if it's known to anyone here?

Any views appreciated or via pm.

Thanks

I should add: The car has been on a private plate: P4MFB and original plate YR09YUW

Cheers

Yep - but mileage did it for me. Off to check the usual bits this am including coolant pipes etc...

just make sure that you check for all the known issues, also when you drive it make sure each gear engages smoothly in both sport and drive mode.

check all switches. take vag-com if you have it.

if the garage is near a vw/audi specialist pop it across for an inspection. just checked location and its not to far from ricky elder in swindon. if your serious then get them to take it to him and get him to go through it with a fine tooth comb at 37k I'd want almost a 9/10 car and they should do this for you at the very least - its been on sale for some time. good luck

P.S

have you seen the car at TH Boler? it has 3GMMI the car your thinking of buying is only 2GMMI.

Thanks for the pointers.

I went and saw the car at TH Boler - it was a bit tatty in places & bodywork looked like it had been driven through a hedge. Nothing a good buff/Polish wouldn't sort. It also didn't have full Audi service history as advertised and with 5 owners I decided to walk away.

This car has 2 owners with FASH which I've verified with the main dealer. It's super low miles (which I realise can cause its own issues!) but of all the RS6s I've driven it felt the best - responsive engine and gearbox. It also felt 'tight' - can't put any more of a finger on it than that.

I also test drove the car in Slough which was a Plus - it felt tired to me. Gearbox was reluctant to kick down & some judder from the discs.

Car is in with Oxford Audi this am for inspection & I've paid for an extra hour of a RS technician to check the usual RS6 trouble spots and to run a diagnostic.

Let's see what comes back!

First step once you get it home... take that V10 badge off the back!

Ha! Liking the stealth mode?

Wasn't the v10 badge an original fit?

So here's a question;

The forum here says that the electric tailgate was a standard item, and I've phoned Audi who also say it was fitted to this car - However - There is no electric tailgate fitted to this car?

Any clues? (Suspicious head on) Does this suggest it's had a rear shunt and the tailgate has been replaced?

I agree it is part of the standard spec (plus if Audi are saying it left the factory with it you'd like to think they'd be the best informed!)

Is the button missing from the edge of the tailgate when it's open and what happens when you press the remote boot release for a few seconds?

Worth checking there's not an option to disable the electric operation in MMI (I don't think there is, but you never know) and I'd expect it to be logging a stored fault unless they've managed to properly code the motor out.

Check module 6D for coding.....

The May 2008 and October 2009 brochure states the tail gated as being a standard option.

The button is missing entirely. Audi say their records are not always 100% but it was listed against this chassis/plate as being fitted.

Unit 20 guys (V helpful) say it was an option - so it could well be legit that it's missing.

But - it seems odd that it's listed as standard spec and missing, and on a car at this level it would seem very odd that a purchaser wouldn't have it on the standard spec either.

Something to note the ad mentions only 3 services on a 2009 car, I'm guessing most people would run these on fixed servicing (oil change every year) rather than the long life schedule.

Also on the last one there should have been spark plugs done (60k/6yr)

That'll be 450-750 depending on where you go, if you want to stick to the schedule in the book
