C6 RS6 Price variation?

Afternoon all. I am currently trying to sell my existing car and have been keeping an eye on the for sale here and pistonheads, audi approved etc and there seems to be a massive price difference across the board.
Audi have a couple of C6's at the moment but at £32.5 and £33K they are top money just for an audi approved warranty. i have seen recent cars on here for low 20's if not less ( a recent sale to a trader that caused a few comments may have been under £20k!)
Why is there upwards of £13k difference on cars that were only offered for a few years. I am extremely baffled. I appreciate oil seals and coolant pipes are a major issue but many dealers don't even meantion this in there ads (guess they don't know) There is a £31k 2008 black rs6 for sale local to me but it seems too much money for the spec/age and the dealer has some questionable reviews.
is it best to avoid the dealers completely and once my car has gone hold out for one on here?
Comments welcome and appreciated
Marc

Paying a price which starts with a 3 for one of these V10s is probably risky unless a) you know you want to keep it more than a couple of years, and b) it's absolute immaculate/top spec/low mileage/plus model. Pay that much and try and trade it in somewhere soon and you could be in for a shock!
You could try the old trick of calling a few Audi dealers posing as a private seller, ask them what down the phone what they'd give you for x year, y miles, z spec? Give you an idea what they are trading for (and what they are changing hands for in the trade) before you go view any at garages?

I agree to a point with that Ian but then buying one of the cheaper cars it's more than likely a dog and needs £5k+ spent on it making it a good one, with the warranty most items are covered, if they px in the dogs they just send them to auction.
Why not keep an eye out for good forum one?

We're starting to see more and more cars needing the Oil Pump and Coolant pipes done due to time rather than mileage and, looking at the price drop at the lower end, I'm wondering if this is starting to become similar to the C5's infamous GB and DRC problems where owners get rid cheaply when they realise there's potentially a £3k-5k+ bill coming up soon.
However I could very well be wrong.

Trade money has been going up slowly on these over the past year from I can tell. When I first thought I would sell mine a year ago i got a benchmark offer from Webuy and WeWant sites, now I am actively selling mine I did this again and both have gone up by a £1K.
I also wouldn't take that low end sale as the benchmark as that was a deliberately quick sale and went at a price that provided a good margin for a dealer. Nothing wrong with that and it suited both parties but it was very low. Equally one went on here a few weeks back and sold within 3 minutes of the sale post which was advertised at £28K if I remember correctly.

yes but that car belonged to a enthusiast forum owner who had recently shelled out circa £5k so it was a steal really. same can be said for a few other owners on here if they ever sold - I think their cars would move very quick.
audi will always have the audi markup but don't mean to its a decent car, the blue and Daytona they currently have are rubbish (I've seen both).

I recently rang a dealership for performance cars...
We sat and made a list of everything my car had done and things that were upgraded etc.
He valued my car at 30k
Then the next day he had apparently located a buyer and if i wanted the new C7 RS6 he would sort the trade out, so im guessing they had that lined up for 32/33k and then obviously my purchase of the C7 lumped them good money too.
I backed out regardless as after some thoughts i decided i love it too much and want to keep it.
The value of these cars depends on work done and spec... millage as long as its not too high doesn't seem to affect the price either way.

I am keeping an eye out on here but need to shift my bm first, that is the only dealer advantage i can see (px the old car) as the prices are excessive. The local car to be me I've seen at 31k for a 2008 but one on pistonheads now, 1 owner 2009 at £26k, newer car and £5k less. Some dealers are either over paying on stock/px or over pricing! Probably both

Went to Audi Hitchin a week ago who were having an 'event' just out of curiosity. During a conversation with the Sales Mngr he said that they wouldn't look at my car as it was too old (2009 Saloon with 58k miles). His recommendation was to sell it (not that I am -I'm having far too much fun with it) on a forum such as this one as you will get a better return, especially with all the extra tweaks we tend to make. He even said 'go and get it tuned and make the most of it'. I paid £29k for mine 4 months ago and have spent nearly £4K on it so far.

Steveo, was yours local when you bought it? And serviced by Hitchin previously? Used Hitchin to service my S4, and our daily driver family A3 went there a few times too, took this pic about 4 years ago

Local meets to you and I, there's a monthly one at MK (weekday evenings) and there's one every few months near Silverstone (Saturday or Sunday mornings). Audis in the Park in Northants (annual event) in a few weekends time is definitely worth a look too.
