Oki, was going to pop my bonnet today. Not opening.
So, how do I open the bonnet when the release wire is broken.........?

Oh dear.... take the bonnet lever apart and try pulling the wire itself and if failing that, you need to stick a camera from underside to see if the cable has dislodged from the catch. It's very unlikely that the cable is snapped.

Are you a member of the breakdown recovery services? If you are and have 'At Home' cover they should come out and be able to effect a temporary fix (they have experience of this).
Failing that, they should be able to tow you to a garage.

Haha, yeah, thanks.
The car is in my workshop
Dont need towing anywhere. The car is fully driveable.

Just good to get to open the bonnet. No urgency. Sooner or later I need to open the bonnet.. Better get on with it.

you would have thought the Police could undo the bonnet by trashing the grille not the bonnet itself!

cannot see how thrashing the grille would help.......

thought you would be able to access the bonnet catch mechanism from underneath after going in through the grille

Doubt it.
there are radiators / coolers in the way. The locking mechanism is behind them.
So, I guess it will be chopping time when that time comes first.

Is there no other way in other than as you say cutting something you dont really want to cut?

I will be chopping the bonnet.
Sourced a 2nd hand one from Germany in the same colour. Ace. 249euro....
But I will not chop before I need to. Wonder what comes first. Oil light? Washer fluid? or the annual service

i know this is gonna sound odd, but have you though of one of those wifi endoscope things? I picked one up from fleabay a while back and they can be really useful for this type of thing?
not sure you could get enough purchase to open using it, but it might result in a cheaper less invasive option? just a thought?
