Would be most grateful of any advice/pointers / questions to ask / things to look out for please.
Thanks in advance

As with any car, regular servicing, at least once every year, with Audi or respected specialist (MRC or Unit 20). Check for oil leaks under the engine with the under tray off - expensive to fix.

Things to ask… I’d say you want to look into its full service history see what’s been replaced, check tyres are good as these are £200 a corner (roughly)
I’d be asking about brake conditions, discs are £700 roughly for fronts and £600 for rear discs, pads are around £250 and £120 again these are just rough oem prices you have plenty of other options available but I’ll just keep it simple for now.
Take a
Vagcom scanner, ask them to scan it in front of you.. as not all issues flag the engine management light.. for example I have a secondary air injection issue that needs sorting but it doesn’t bring the EML light on but its stored fault that returns when cleared so eventually it will bring the EML on.
Front end drop links, suspension bushes are starting to become a little sloppy after 6yrs 70k + miles so if ones had it done bonus otherwise be ready to spend money in the not too distant future on those.
Ask about its past, where it was looked after etc… get a good feeling for the car, where the owners careful does the interior reflect a well looked after car… mine was always taken to Audi but unfortunately hadn’t been well looked after inside, speaker grill was smashed, air vent in door pillar broken and driver’s seat was worn.. but I got the car a lot cheaper because of this and it had a lot of extras that many others didn’t.
All of which i've fixed myself anyway, seat was done by a profesioanl and it looks like new...
The sump oil leak as mentioned above you want to make sure this is either done or isn’t leaking, oil pump seal leaks where it joins the engine like where the sump would be but obviously these are a dry sump system… if you remove the undertray you will see straight away if its leaking. That’s an engine out job to sort so be careful!
I can’t really think of much else, without going on too much… if you have a good feeling about the car and all the above checks out then go for it, if for whatever reason it just doesn’t feel right then walk away and find another one no matter how far you’ve travelled.

No problem, check for clicking wheel bearings also! and i think someone mentioned early 6's had an oil breather issue that was a recall but i dont know much about that maybe someone can chime in, might be worth a mention though!

My advice would be buy private and with Audi extended warranty as simple as that you save money on the purchase then peace of mind with the warranty

if you purchased a car with the extended audi warranty would this still be valid if you had a remap done?

Not on any drivetrain components but unrelated parts will still be covered.
