Aftermarket exhaust systems

I'm looking at changing my exhaust ready for its remap but I'm unsure exactly what exhaust system to go for - im not going to be chasing silly power - I'll be happy with the 730 that a lot of people seem to achieve
Does this mean deleting the secondary cats?

I don't want a massively droning loud system as the car is used every day - I don't mind a bit of an increase in cabin noise but I need it to stay sensible
I want black tips as my Avant has black optics,
Has anyone got an exhaust system with a switchable diverter flap - if so where have you put the diverter?

Any particular recommendations and what sort of costs please,

Thanks

As far as I know the MTM is the only "branded" valved system... the valve opens/closes based on boost pressure - so not too antisocial when at idle. I got quoted £3.3k+VAT for that cat-back system. Some people on here have had custom ones made though which presumably they can be made with a valve controlled by a fob.

Getting black tips also limits you. Supersprint don't do them any more; I think Milltek might.

Hayward & Scott - I had a custom setup from the DPs back made up on my C5. It has massive silencers and I had them put a cabin operated divert to straight pipe just before the silencers. It sounds beautifully smooth at all RPM when closed, open the valves and you can hear EVERYTHING, turbo whistle, pops, bangs, gurgles on the overrun and NASCAR at WOT.

I seem to remember 900 quoted but it ended up at 1k or 1.1k.

I have the latest Milltek with large ceramic ovals, also didn't want it too boomy as an every day drive. Ended up with one side res the other non and its perfect and a reasonable price with warranty around £1500 fitted. It's also in now having the stage 2 MTM map Monday can't come soon enough

I'm expecting double that at least!

You've got to think about the differences, I took the car in running straight pipes from turbos back either side, no X over, no silencers, no preCATs and no main CATs. They only had to add in silencers and a cabin operated diverter.

I’ve got 737ps and 1051nm with the standard exhaust with just the secondary cats removed. I didn’t want it to be too shouty and it isn’t. There is a little more noise now but no drone and after my trip to Le Mans I’m told it sounds epic in tunnels but as it’s my family car it can’t be noisy day to day. For me it’s the perfect balance for a family and fun car now. The mods I’ve done to achieve these figures are MRC stage 2 map, MRC filters, MRC gearbox remap and secondary cat bypass.

I run a C5 RS6 not a C6 RS6.
There is a guy that had a very loud H&S setup done on his C6, you'll need to scour the C6 RS6 forum.

This is what mine sounded like... a longtime a go, with straight pipes.

Any chance of a video of the sound?

Unfortunately I don't have any videos on file. I've tried using my mobile in the past but the quality was awful. I live in West Sussex and more than happy to meet up if that would help.

No worries. My interest was purely curiosity as i have not heard one of those systems before
