Milltek failed

My brother pointed out to me that one of the pipes looked lower than the other a couple of days ago and I thought he was just being picky. On closer inspection he was right and the hanger on the back box has broken off completely leaving a hole in the back of the box and the exhaust hanging down. To be honest I don't know the age of the system as it was fitted to the car when I bought it but I haven't been overly impressed with the quality of this Milltek since owning it. The tips are very poor with a lot of the chrome deteriorated around the lip and now this bracket braking around the welded area. If I were to replace the system now I think my money would be going the custom route as a few other have done on here. However now I'm stuck with a replacement back box cost which I guess is better than a complete system.

Mines custom Andy
Il give you details of where I got mine done if you want?
But he's Newcastle upon Tyne and he has a waiting list?
Mine was a third of the price of a Milltek, sounds just as good, tips are bigger and back boxes smaller than milltek too.
Regards
Chris

I'm not the original owner Grizz so as far as Milltek are concerned I don't exist. Their warranty is specific on this clause as I found when researching the corroded tips. Happy to ask again though.

I was thinking of asking you Chris when I get around to replacing this system as I knew you were happy with yours. Sounds like I will have to forward plan a far bit though. Is yours the same as Trups or is that another option?

In fairness no, I only went as far as their warranty statement. I'll give them a call to see what they say.

Call them as am sure will stand behind it. I had the clips fail on my Milltek & APS claimed them for me from Milltek - I had to send an e-mail to back the claim up but that was all and they sent the clips to APS to fit when the car was serviced.

Called Milltek today and they repeated their warranty standpoint to me i.e. I'm not the original purchaser so not covered under the warranty, fair enough. However they are going to try and assist with the issue as much as possible, probably contribution towards the cost of replacement parts. I've sent them pictures of the damage along with serial numbers of the effected parts and await to see what they are prepared to do. I have to say the guy I spoke to was extremely helpful and concerned that I receive a satisfactory answer, can't really say fairer than that. So thanks to Grizz for encouraging me to follow this up with Milltek direct. Any help from them here will be hugely appreciated.
I'll report back on the outcome.

New back box fitted by the nice chaps at QST but nothing from Milltek. Not holding my breath on this one but at least the car is good to go once more.
Had a look at an MTM system whilst there and it's a much better fir to the car than the Milltek system, almost OEM in look i.e. no big round back box hanging down from the car. Shame about the price though but the valves do make it nice and quite at tick over.

Andy I'm surprised at Milltek. I had a ceramic coated tip on my old C5 rub against the plastic of the bumper and over time it rubbed all the ceramic coating off. I probably should have checked it now and again.
I contacted Milltek and explained all this obviously not their fault at all, however they offered to re do the ceramic coating for £25 which I thought was very cheap. In the end they sent me two brand new tips with the latest ceramic coating. The reason being they had changed the coating from my original ones and only doing one would have looked out of place. They did still only charge me the £25.
Hopefully by now you have received an answer from Milltek
Out of interest is yours cat back and res or non res ?

I think the difference being is you probably are the original owner of the system? Because I bought my car with the Milltek fitted then they have no interest in assisting. they had all the pictures of the failed back box, they obviously were happy to sell a new one via QST at full price, they knew when I was booked into QST for the fitting, they had my serial numbers, contact numbers, email etc. I wasn't expecting anything for free here but I would of been nice for some assistance as the failure looked like poor quality of the component.
It is a cat back system and non-res I think, they only sell one type for the C6 Avant.
