Possible Newbie
Possible Newbie
Hi all,
I am considering jumping back in to another Audi after a year on the dark side and I'm not sure I can handle another B7 RS4. To me the next natural progression is a 6.
Couple of questions though:
I've seen a few of 2008 models that I like but would I be better off holding out for a newer model?
Was there a facelift model in 2010 and what were the tweaks?
Any advice on what to look out for would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Possible Newbie
100% hold out for one with ceramics
Re: Possible Newbie
I'm going to differ from DK, ceramics nice to have but not needed day to day. Also very hard to come by. Not that many cars about at the moment.
No facelift, as such, but later cars have 3G MMI. Just beware that some early cars weren't registered until 2009 so no hard and fast rule for finding these.
Which car will be down to budget. Appearance of C7 likely to move cost south.

Shane is an "enthusiastic" driver (meant in the nicest possible way) and I just think not having to worry about the brakes is a nice thing to have.
Agree for day to day driving they are not necessary.

Agreed with DK.
Steels are <beep> and any RS6 running even oem power is a deathtrap.
Do more than one stop from anything in triple digits and you're foot will be hitting the floor.

Re: Possible Newbie
Ha ha!
I agree that if you have the choice you'd take them, I'd have chosen them on the RS4. But, given the dearth of cars you could be holding out a looooooong time if ceramics are a must have. Could always do aftermarket as Nudenut did.

Re: Possible Newbie
As a minimal get some race pads and race fluid in to give you half a chance of avoiding the trees

Re: Possible Newbie
There aren't any race pads for the C6 steelies though. There's a company that'll do bespoke ones, forget their name now but Footlong used them. They charge about the same as OEM Audi pads. I don't know how you tuned guys run these car without ceramics. Two tons, 750+ BHP, 'ramics ftw.

Re: Possible Newbie
The ceramic setup can be had for the same price as the order option from new.

Re: Possible Newbie
Still a lot of money against the overall value secondhand. If buying again and 'ramics being a must, get one with them on I would say. Other option must still be the Loba brake upgrade if you have OEM steels?
You learn something everyday they say and today is one of those days, I now know I'm taking my life into my hands every time I drive this death trap of a car i own just because it doesn't have ceramic brakes. Best offload it quick onto some poor unsuspecting fool, what a lucky escape I've had to still be alive!

To answer the OP question though, if I were looking again the options I would look for in no particular order;
Keyless entry
Advanced parking
Radar cruise
Solar sunroof
Ceramics
3G MMI
Memory steering column
De-limited / carbon pack
Twin pane glass

Re: Possible Newbie
....most of those are like rocking horse dung.
Parking, normal sunroof and keyless are more common.
Memory steering column/driver's seat was standard I think.
