Question for you chaps, without digging the manual out.

Can the C6 RS6 lights be switched to LHD and if so is it easy to do DIY or is it a major PITA?

Hi Porka,

Do you have a Vagcom?

Shamelessly copied from the interweb:

"
Adaptation

Channel 010: Tourist Solution
When driving in countries where driving is performed on the opposite side as in the native country the headlights must be changed over to avoid blinding the oncoming traffic. When active/enabled the Fault Code 02988 will be stored.

0 = Disabled
1 = Enabled
Note: Only supported for 8P0-907-357-C @ 0020 or newer! Earlier versions require a mechanical Adjustment as described in the Factory Repair Manual.

To change over Bi-Xenon headlights for European driving using VAG-COM. 24-Mar-08
Select Control Module - Select 55 Xenon Range - Select Adaptation - 10
Channel Number - Use the up arrow to move up to Channel 10
New Value - use the up and down arrow to change the ?0? to ?1? - Click Save to store the new value
A yellow Headlight Range Error should be displayed on the DIS together with a beep.
This will beep and show each time the ignition is turned on as a warning that the headlights are set
for European Driving.

Channel 09 may need to be changed from ?0? to ?1? for the warning to show and changed back
afterwards.

My manual states that the dip settings have to be changed by a qualified workshop.

How stupid; so i have to drive to an Audi dealer to have my dip settings adjusted and therefore dazzle UK motorists until im across the channel. I know Alfa come in for a lot of stick but at least they incorporated a switch into the zenon headlights so that you can switch manually in a couple of seconds.

Thank you all for your responses. My manual/suede folder is packed away and haven't tried the MMI, so will do that today.

Don't have a VagCom, but as Barry says a real PItA if this is an Audi dealer thing. If it can't be done via MMI then VagCom it will have to be...how much is one do those?

I guess the underlying thinking behind my question was is it a light unit change if you want to drive it for extended periods in Europe or even register it in Europe more permanently?! I was hoping for such expensive dynamic units it would be a lever or software change so it remains the same light unit, as that would be a mega expensive job with new lights and bumper off (which is how they are done).

If anyone knows more from personal experience/knowledge pls educate the rest of us.

Ive just checked my 2G MMI and under Exterior Lighting i only have the following options.

Coming home
leaving home
Daytime running lights

Nothing about changing the headlights for LHD and my manual refers me to Audi.

It's the forth option down so presumably not then

We had to dealer visit for my wife's old TT.

PF, I'm not too far from you, in SW London. When I'm back in Blighty (9th June), I'm happy to bring my Vagcom to you and give it a try.

C6NVS - many thanks for the offer. I think I'm going to buy a VagCom myself.

Which one out of these...assume one is just a later version, as well as being cheaper?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VCDS-Diagnost ... 20d4fbca88

Or

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vag-Com-Vcds- ... 3f26d15a83

And is price long about right?

Can confirm it's done via Vagcom. Had it done for my recent trip to France. Local stealer charged me £25, FOC to put them back to RHD.

PF, I can't confirm the ebay cables. There are some on here that have tried certain ebay variants with different levels of success.

If you decide to go for a geniune registered version, I can reccomend Nigel at sales @ Vagcom.biz. Well known supplier of genuine cable on many vag forums.
