I'll just pretend...

And when I sell it back to a dealer in a few years, I'll tell them it has 3G.

Haha you can bet they will no its not then, glad you got it sorted.

make sure you keep ALL your comms and have the offer of warranty in blood

im assuming its them paying for your extension of the Audi (Mondial) warranty ? so that is worth £1,500 ... although I guess they will process it as one of their approved used ... not sure how much they have to pay for this ? £500?

What dealer ?

Have everything printed off, also waiting for it in a letter. No doubt there will be complications when I turn up there in a year's time.

No idea what they would pay for Mondial, but it's essentially worth a couple of grand to me in total. Despite everything I'm happy with the way they ultimately settled it. (listers Stratford)

Glad you got it sorted to your satisfaction. I have to say that as good as 3G MMI is, you are buying the car for it being an RS6 and not a media interface. If the tech was your primary concern then you should by a new A6 and enjoy the very latest mobile wifi, google maps etc. What im saying is enjoy the RS6 for what it is and don't get to bothered about the missing technology. This is how I settled for the car I have, it doesn't have some of my desirable options but it has my 'must have' options and it was the right price so therefore I'm happy every time I get in and start up

With the warranty I would estimate that it has to be worth at least £1500-2000 to you for the additional 12 months. As I said before I bought an additional 24 months via Inchcape and that cost me £1100 and they said that Audi is a lot more expensive for warranty cover.

Mondial is £999 with an 18k (IIRC) mileage restriction, the unlimited was another couple of hundred.

Either way, that's a result.

I'm a bit baffled by the inspection, that's not a term of the normal arrangement. You just have to have full Audi service history.

yes but doodlebug (dont you work for Audi?) my synical brain is thinking they will put on the mondial warranty as an "approved used" car and pay whatever they pay for those as opposed to standing for the RRP

Me, work....that's what wives are for isn't it?

I don't doubt they'll short cut if they can save a few quid. Be interesting to hear what they put in writing.

Isn't it more about what it's worth to the customer, bobjebb, than what it costs the dealer?

So to summarise, they offered a £500 gesture, which I wasn't remotely happy with. I asked for an additional warranty to go alongside it, and I got a "no", and a "OK bring the car back, as it won't be a cost to us"

This morning I wrote an told them that their offer was too light, so I'd bring the car back on Monday. I also queried how it wouldn't cost them anything to have the car back.

It wasn't long before I had the reply:

"As you requested, futher to a conversation with Peter i have managed to arrange to top up the warranty in 12 months time on your RS6, before the current one expires, for another Audi 12 month warranty, as a gesture of goodwill.
We would need to arrange to see you and the car for a usual check maybe 11 months time , for us to be able to apply the next warranty.
Peter will send you this in writing shortly. I trust this sorts the issue out and i hope its a happy ending."

This of course didn't mention the initial £500 offer.... So I queried that too!

"I can confirm the £500 is in addition to the warranty as agreed. I hope this settles the issue and look forward to seeing you in 12 months so we can carry out a full inspection and issue the further warranty."

Phew. Andy, as you say, I'm not actually that concerned about the MMI, the car is for weekend use and as long is has Radio 4 on it, I'm OK. Other than ceramics the car has everything else. It was the principle of selling me something that wasn't there....

Now unless I'm having the run around, I'm happy with the result and and would have to respect their ultimate handling of it all. Now to enjoy the car, it's only been out once!

Same scenario happened to me with a new car. Audi took the hit and let me put 8k miles on it whilst they ordered a new one for me. It was that or they offered me a paltry sum of money which didn't even cover the cost of the additional options.

For future ref those 2G versus 3G pics are NOT from RS6 C6's .. I too fell for that as they are from a web article entitled 2G v 3G differences..

As always the best answer is this forum - this thread

The 2G versus 3G proper RS6 C6 pics are post 19 http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 3&start=19

You can also tell by the buttons around the screen, the 2g ones are flat and the 3g ones are raised.
