A few years back they had a charity day where loads of bikers and cars where allowed to go on site and do 1/4 mile times, then continue up to the main runway and wait for clearance to go. It was still being used throughout the day and when you got the ok you went out in little groups.

I managed 165 in the wet (in a previous car)..... massive spray behind the cars so couldn't see much

Don't know how long the runway is though.
It's a massive "No" now, it's too busy for a "track day style event", even a charity one. I know because I asked the Station Commander during a conversation with him shortly before I left the RAF :(

Most of the runways in the UK aren't long enough to be absolutely sure of breaking 200mph, especially when you include the braking area you need as well as the acceleration area. There's a list on Wiki (I think) with the distances and Heathrow had the longest (including RAF ones). If you can hit high 190's at Brunters I think Heathrow may be the only one that stands a reasonable chance, the rest would be far too close to say for certain.

List here, not in order! Heathrow is the winner, I'm sure they won't mind closing their multi billion pound facility so we can drag race up it for a day! Shall we suggest the first day of the school summer holidays, I'm sure it will be quiet then.

You can click the little arrow next to RWY to sort by length. Heathrow is longest at 3000ft (1km) longer than brunters which sounds a lot but it's only 10 extra seconds of acceleration  (200mph = 90 m/s)

The rest are only 100-300m longer which is 1-3 seconds at best.

looks like its time for a ride out to the A16 then :-)

Only at Grantham so access to A1 is a breeze with surrounding roads with good straight bits hard to find so the A16 bit looks good on google maps, guess its hunt out the roman roads for a full speed test!

What about the straight bit above Spalding? 160mph is too easy in these cars, can do that just on the a1 normally

I am not aiding and abetting anyone.

As doodle has quite rightly said. We should no longer discuss doing silly things on public roads. He who will do the crime will defo have to do plenty of time.

I like to shower with soap and not be scared to drop it.
