Well took two days to change tailgate motor and only one headlight to the new updated non faulty version, as audi warranty would only pay for one, happy for me to return when the other plays up - tight bar stewards

Glad to have the red rocket back though

Neil in the service department was much better then the girl there

Bushy, What went wrong with your tailgate motor, did it fail completely or just partially lift the door?

Sorry to hear you guys are having so much trouble with Audi, it does surprise me when customers in this premium sector are treated so poorly. Having said that I had similar experiences with BMW some time ago.[/quote]

partially lift door then close again, initially happened once or twice, then got to be it would take about 6-10 times to get in the boot

Mine sometimes partially lifts and I have to force it up and then it behaves for a bit. I wonder if I need a replacement motor?

To put a "smile" on your faces .. Mercedes story.. They are worse ...

After MrsD hit a huge pothole a couple of weeks ago in the Smarty ,which bent both front and rear drivers side rims, we decided to get all 4 replaced (as upon inspection the other side rims also had very minor rim dings) ..

So only took 2 weeks for a dealer to get 2 front and 2 rears sent from Germany. Booked the car in to get the tyres swapped over and we asked for a full alignment and geometry check and suitable fix as required to be done too

Picked up the car and report and day after was looking at the paper work for the alignment to see that 4 parameters in the After Correction column are "out of spec" .. Also the Before correction column is just blanked out with "##"

So ring dealer and ask .. why is the report saying its still out ? The response was .... "our alignment equipment does not really fit the Brabus so we cobble something together .. its ok the guy has done it before and when he drove the car he said its fine"

When asked if I was to call Mercedes HQ and ask if its correct that all Smart dealers are unable to check a Brabus he says .. "its just their equipment" .. and previously they "had to go else where to get another car tested"

I "gently" explained I am not paying 221 pounds + vat for a test that is a cobble together and a report that is "inaccurate" and if accurate shows the car is incorrectly set up and for "our guy drove it and its ok"

So today picked car up after they redid it "properly" .. ALL the pre tests where out .. so the "our guy drove it and its ok" was a load of B8lls

I had a dead LED strip before Xmas - it would sometimes flicker briefly on startup, but once autocheck decided it was dead, both running lights were turned off.

I had the recall done, and headlight with the dead running light was changed.

In the last month, I've had about five instances of autocheck claiming a running light is out, and turning them both off. Left and right side, on various occasions.

It went in on Thursday for two new front tyres (that's a story of it's own that now ties in with this one) and a laundry list of warranty issues, one of which was these false failure alerts. One of the headlights has been replaced because "only one headlight was logging a fault in diagnostics".

So no doubt at some point, the other one will continue to throw false failure warnings and will have to be replaced too. I expected the car to be in Friday as well because it's never been a one-day job to swap a headlight, but I found out Friday afternoon "the rear anti-roll bar has worn strangely" and a replacement is on special order, delivery date unknown.

Still, the Q7 3.0 TDI SE I've got on loan at least has MMI 3G and a reversing camera, so it's not all bad...

Just wondering - how many people have now had the full headlamp unit replaced under warranty? Did they replace both left and right? Has that completely cured the misting/condensation problem?

The replacement grommet/gaskets had no effect for me - probably made things worse actually.

I think there's definitely a sealing fault with the headlamp units on the RS6, with moisture ingress - but I don't want to go back and forth to the dealer - one headlamp at at time, 1 (or more) day each time et al.

My poor analogy is the B7 RS4 DRC failures - it was only really worth doing once Audi had decided to replace with re-designed OEM (I think Showa's?) units that cured the manufacturing/design defect.

Cheers

Sean

Had a 'DRL failure' message yesterday. I was going to ring the dealers this morning to get it looked at, but everything seems fine today. Is this how it starts?
