I had BMW extended warranty on my old M3 (I'm pretty sure it was Mondial) - they only cover equipment fitted at the factory. So the BMW CD changer that the BMW franchise dealer fitted on my request when I bought the car wasn't covered by the extended warranty - just the 12m parts warranty from the date it was fitted. You can guess what happened for me to find this out!RSKiwi wrote:If they do retrofit it at least it will be covered by warranty.
On second thoughts Mondial dont cover sat nav, phone prep etc do they?

Re: Hypothetical (probably) scenario
Yep they are very rare. There are only 363 C6 RS6s registered in the UK http://howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/audi_r ... odel=MJ240 - and that includes both body shapes.doodlebug wrote:Worldwide, less than 10% of those in the UK.RSKiwi wrote:5000!!!!I reckon you have a pretty good chance of finding a replacement with that number floating about.
If everything is perfect other than the 2G/3G it may just be worth settling on cash compensation and just living with the 2G. Depends how rare the combination of specs you are after are.
Whatever you do, if you aren't happy with the dealer's offer just say you want your money back. He's always going to try his best to keep the car in your hands rather than his - remember now the car has one extra owner on record too. You've got the negotiating power and the law on your side.
Also I wouldn't stick a load of miles on it whilst you wait - just so he can't claim any sort of usage out of it. Try and get it sorted ASAP since your insurance will have a 14 days cancellation option without penalty.
Good luck.
Re: Hypothetical (probably) scenario
Thanks again. Ive done as they asked and confirmed with photos the lack of HDD nav no SD slots etc. So will wait and see what they say next... Completely agree about choices for another car that may not exist. The only other one I considered was 10K more...

dont get fooled into thinking your car is the only one out there
you might find one comes up next week in pimped out spec with ceramics and you'll be kicking yourself

Hypothetical (probably) scenario
That's true, but realistically there aren't many of those. Most cars were Audi UK stock and have pretty similar spec. I've seen but a handful with ceramics.D_K wrote:dont get fooled into thinking your car is the only one out there

A case for not cutting off your nose....

But I couldn't possibly comment.

Not 100% sure if this is a 3g equipped Avant (but does look like it by the centre console) - but it looks pretty awesome... if you don't mind spending a bit more of course

pretty much the only black Avant C6 out there

Re: Hypothetical (probably) scenario
Yup, that's a 3G. It's a little TOO black for me, and it's 20k more than mine!
Funnily enough Bramleys had the other car on my shortlist, which I think they still have. More ££ again, and still 2G, but v low mileage... I also looked at the one in York which has ceramics, which wouldn't necessarily be something I'd long for if I'm honest.

Re: Hypothetical (probably) scenario
Well here's the reply...
"Sorry for the delay we were waiting to get a cost option to fit the extra spec, we've been told it can not be done so if you want to return the car that is fine.
Has it got to be an avant we have just taken an RS6+ in. in black and has the MMi spec I've just checked with Audi and also confirm that this car has it (but some use that was on the last car)
keep me posted on your thoughts ."
Kindest regards .

I am a little confused. i have a 2009 rhd c6 rs6 saloon and my console does not look like either of these!
My 'car' button is on the right where the 'name ' is in the photo above!
are the above photos for lhd cars?

Re: Hypothetical (probably) scenario
Send it back. The 3G is mega, and the flexibility with SD cards and USB or iPod are great. The 2G does look very dated against it. There seems to be a bit of a drought of 2009 onwards cars on the used market, I guess it's just as the 36/48 month change cycle hasn't got round to them yet.bobjebb wrote:Well here's the reply...

As per previous posts, everytime you look at that screen from now on you'll regret not not having the 3G. Just the same feeling I get when I look at my steel brakes and wish I'd have had carbons....

Re: Hypothetical (probably) scenario
Totally agree with bam bam on this. U have consumer rights. U wanted the car for its particular spec. Audi dealers need to be raped more often imho. Theyre all nicey nice and pandering until.theyve got your deposit. uve got evidence in writing. It doesnt get any better than that. In court it would sit well in your favour.
Quattro in all seasons for Ass Kickin reasons.
Re: Hypothetical (probably) scenario
Craigyb has estimated a 3k bill to do the upgrade, the dealer has had a quote for 4k! I have suggested that if they cover that cost I'll be satisfied.....

4K!!!! I'll strap an iPad 3 to your rear vision mirror in exchange for a reach-around, a can of Super Tenants and 3 Daim bars!bobjebb wrote:I can send the car back, no quibbles. However this has really become more about principle than 2G/3G. Deep down I knew it was 2G, and went ahead with the sale. I've had a look around and the only other car I would have considered was a Daytona at Bramley's and it's gone.
I can play the game, or let it go. CraigyB has estimated a 3k bill to do the upgrade, the dealer has had a quote for 4k! I have suggested that if they cover that cost we'll have a happy conclusion.....
No matter where you go, there you are.

Personally, i'd push to get as much of the £3k as i could out of Audi for the incompetence and then get a decent retro fit carried out (Esp if you like the rest of the car - think bar the 3g and ceramics you've got pretty much everything else going )... but from just a few cursory glances about, the rate of which the Audi dealers quote the specs incorrectly is pretty high.. sometimes it works in your favour as they haven't a clue what they are trying to sell and considering they have access to all the info the car from when it was built - shocking really.
