Re: advice for rs6 v10
I think this has had the pump done as its says replaced new oil pump tube and seal but there is also lots of other seals so I'm thinking they may have done the rear one and also coolant pipes while it was out also

Re: advice for rs6 v10
Having only read half the thread..
i can also say that the RS6 is a car to be ticked off the bucket list, be warned though once you own one and push to Stage 2 think about your next car choice very wisely as you will struggle to find something to better it.
They are pure savage beast, the engine is a marvel and genuinely very reliable.... in my own personal experience i drove the car hard and it did track days and many a sideways motion out of junctions etc.
I probably spent around £5000 in repairs and maintenance is my 1yr ownership of my second C6 RS, the first one was well over £10,000 in repairs and maintenance is a years ownership but its not a fair comparison as i got robber and ripped off by a garage.
Moving on, the 2nd year ownership i learnt an awful lot about the cars, doing most of the work myself, services, spark plugs, diff and gearbox oil changes... servicing is cheap, plugs are easy enough and cheap enough to do... biggest one i'd say is the gearbox oil change, the oil is £20 a liter but is very easy to change and flush out yourself (with a ramp)
I did all these myself twice in my ownership, and i also spent around £3500 on new AP racing discs at the back and AP Racing front 410mm discs/callipers which were fantastic.
Some Forge boost hoses and that about sorted it!
I did have DRC problems with burst shockers, had to replace all the undertrays and fit a new Aux radiator... the engine never missed a beat, everything else failed around it.
Towards the end the aux tensioner started making noise, the gearbox had started to whine and the ABS front sensor had started giving errors every now and then.....
I was looking at around £10k to fix the gearbox, replace coolant lines and drop engine and do all the other bits... i decided it was just not worth the money and swapped her out for a GTR.

Re: advice for rs6 v10
come on guys some one must have had the rear oil seal and the pump on the front done and its lasted how long ?
Re: advice for rs6 v10
No one knows yet, do they?!
Fair to say they'll last as long as they did first time, 5-6 years.

Re: advice for rs6 v10
Interesting when you read all the big money problems owners have with the C6. I owned mine for three years and never experienced any of these problems.
Maybe the difference being I never tracked or launched it. A two plus tonne car is not a track car.
I agree with many of these comments the C6 is a real beast, mine was stage 2.
740 bhp and it really put you in the back of the seat when you put the power down.
If you find a good specialist most of these problems don't require engine out. They are still big jobs but no where near the cost of getting that huge v10 lump out.
I was very lucky as QST are 5 mins from me and maintained the car throughout my ownership

Re: advice for rs6 v10
I think I'm going to have to wait until a private sale comes up that I like as the dealers are sticking to the price and will not drop any to cover the costs if the engine does need to be dropped , as i don't want to pay top price and then find a couple of months later i have to fork out a few grand
Re: advice for rs6 v10
Patience my friend. Ha, far easier said than done as I had to do the exact same thing when looking for mine. One will come along soon enough hopefully.

Hi if you are going to pay £25k + for one, I would say pay a smidge more and get an F10 M5, far better car unless you really need the estate bit.huntersmob wrote:come on guys some one must have had the rear oil seal and the pump on the front done and its lasted how long ?
If you can get one for around 22k (more 20k in my eyes) then its an OK car. The dealers asking 30k will still have them to the point the coolant pipes and washer will need doing again!!
Its easy for this car to sell itself with its straight line performance if tuned, mine is 750bhp and it does go well. So do NOT get seduced by this and this alone.
Pros
It can embarrass as super car if tuned in a straight line
If you can afford the fuel and running costs (its expensive) then it could be the only one car you could ever need. Don't buy one as a toy or weekend car its not, and you can get something far better.
Room.
Well equipped.
comfy.
Can drive it around like Miss Daisy if need be.
V10 TT not going to see anymore like this.
Its quite a cool car, to those in the know.
Cons
Fuel is outrageous if you want to have fun.
Running costs, tyres, bushes, bearings, maintenance, brakes, its an over 2 tonne car and it takes its toll.
Ugly, its not a looker, but does have quite a bit of road presence.
Under-steer, its terrible.
If tunned the car is to fast for its handling and weight.
Over 2 Tonne and it feels it
Known problems that are not cheap to remedy
You look like Daddy to most.
Hope this helps
