the dreaded oil leak
Re: the dreaded oil leak
What a load of tosh
Dealer seeing a C6 engine out job as a big job...<beep> scared in case it bites them....technically or financially as at as I can see.
As said...a weep is a leak!!....it's only going to get worse!!!...and eventually be a gush, probably at 2:30 in the morning on the hard shoulder!!
I wouldn't like to have "guilty knowledge" and drive around knowing I'm loosing oil.
But each to their own.
Good luck.

Re: the dreaded oil leak
I agree that a leak is a leak. Sweating or weeping! The oil should be inside the engine. If it's escaping, its leaking.don0301 wrote:I used the wrong word, the Audi report says oil sweat not weep
Tbh, if they're being obstructive, and if it is that "minor" part of me would be inclined to just leave it, monitor it, and go back when it IS "leaking".

Re: the dreaded oil leak
Will your warranty cover your engine when it goes kaput when all the oil has leaked out. If so, I wouldn't worry
Re: the dreaded oil leak
Sportmile do a fix for the oil leak without engine out.
Give them a call.

Re: the dreaded oil leak
It's great you all have YOUR opinion
I have an insurance warranty for 3 years that DOESNT cover oil leaks
The fact is I don't have an Audi extended warranty, and told by Audi Colchester that even if I HAD it would be rejected
I have 4rings telling me I have no case cos of age of car and milage
So please keep enlighten me!

Ahh yes, sorry I forgot that fact. Looks like you're on your own thendon0301 wrote:It's great you all have YOUR opinion

Not that it helps you here, but regardless, that's incorrect. Audi Comprehensive Extended Warranty is good on any cars up to 100,000 miles. It also specifically covers oil leaks that require engine or gearbox removal:don0301 wrote: The fact is I don't have an Audi extended warranty, and told by Audi Colchester that even if I HAD it would be rejected

So it is probably in most of our interests that Audi continue to claim that this is required for the rectifiation work. However, it appears there are specialists that can do it another way, so I guess the advice elsewhere is where you should be looking.

Re: the dreaded oil leak
Hi Bob
I was just having a click through here & came across your thread, my RS6 on a 09 had the same problem last year (i bought it this march) it was done at Teesside Audi in sep 2013, so there claim that no others have had the problem is bollocks. The previous owner had it done & ive got the receipts somewhere & it was £4k+.
On a different note Ive just had both headlamps replaced with new ones as i thought they were fogging up too much, but Audi have tested them and say they are fine so for piece of mind i had them replaced, (and even on the way home the new ones still fogged up ahh well) the first quote i got off them for one headlamp was £1377 fitted at which point i told them to get real & in the end after kicking off i managed to get brand new headlamps & fitted for a very good deal which i was very surprised with, the only thing is the arseholes have damaged one of the mounting brackets on the headlamp (ive glued it etc but could do with a new bit of plastic just to reinforce it) So if you know of anyone after a set of haedlamps ive got a set fully working etc that i'll put up on here soon.
Regards
Clive
