With hindsight, had I been fully aware of what I was facing before I started the job I'd have tried making some.
Or with the above repair price you'd be taking it to Unit20! lol! :jump:

i went through it recently and I could tell you that it is tad challenging job if you are replacing it "full length". Mine was done ~ 2/3 of the length (while i was abroad this summer) but the most important point is that you replace corroded section. Any reputable garage, and you mentioned two here, have vast amount of experience with it and should address this task adequately. Full length replacement or section fix should do... getting it done and enjoy your motor ;)

Mine has a very slow leak but I want done ASAP I top up coolant about a one month ago and I checked it today and it’s lost about 3/4 of a litre of coolant so topped it up again ready to take it when they can fit it in I was going to have a look at doing it my self but at that price I think I will let them do it lol

My pipes, although heavily corroded, looked solid until I moved them. They were down to cig paper thickness in places - I'd say they'd go from a very slow leak to a really fast one in a split (np pun intended) second.

If I was to do my self as a cut and join job would it be best to flare the pipe then silicone hose in between them I say flare them to help the silicone pipe seat better using a jubilee clip so it don’t pop off or just wait and get it done by mrc or Unit20 just means I have to drive it there I am in the AA just in case 🙈

MRC are only 45 mins down the M40. I’d be going there as opposed to up Norf.

Do anyone no when mrc or Unit20 do the cut join job on these do they just use length of silicon hose instead or do they use new pipes from Audi and cut them to size and join them with silicone hose ?
