Black trim around windows

so mine seem to be some type of rubber construction, not quite plastic but not metal, nor painted for sure. the roof rails are painted, and gloss black grill trim looks plastic also. but the window trim isn't painted. not sure this helps but might explain why i'm not getting the flake issues.
