That must've been a factory order facelift - the saloons started coming in around that time for the very earliest cars but most Avants were sat in a field with 2G still being registered on 09 plates.....

I was the first owner, and it wasn't a cancelled order, it was from Audi UK's stock.

Interesting - folklore suggests the Avants pretty much all came in 2008-09 irrespective of when they were registered, except for the Plus or any specific specs that couldn't be met from stock. The saloons seem to start on a 58 plate and since they're all facelift and 3G that's pretty much when production swapped to 3G, although it's quite common with Audi for gradual facelift changes - on A/S8s there's loads of D3s about with facelift lights from the factory but still 2G.

Good to know there's at least a couple around, although compared to even the numbers with 2G they are very few and far between.

My 09 car (Avant) had 3G MMI. Was the only one I could find at the time.
