Until there was a corner.....it's akin to being a flat track bully.

We only did one standing start and he had launch mode turned off and to 60 I had the measure of him by inches only. I suspect he may not have got it off the line as well as he might as I was expecting to have the RS6's proverbial ass handed to it! I've had a wide range of cars give it a go and fail including B8 RS4, M5(current one), M3, M4, M235i, 991 C4s (I think, they are all Beetles to me), Gallardo, C63 etc. Obviously this is all straight line stuff but as yet nothing has beaten the 6 apart from other 6's.
Your mate in the P90D probably wanted to make it fair & give you a decent head start. Those P90/100d's are pretty much unbeatable off the line & launch mode makes next to no difference. Of course North of 100 the table will turn as the Tesla's run out of puff, but drag races they have everything licked.

^ boost lease?

Have to say, I've never had any problems with Golf 7 R's or S3's etc in a B7.

Really? A stock B7 is no faster 0-100 mph than the current R / S3

Yes they are, repeatedly time and time again. It does make me laugh though, it was the same with the E46 M3 guys. They were convinced they were as quick, if not quicker than a B5 RS4. I had both at the same time so was easy to compare. The latest R/S3 are not as quick as a decent (emphasis here) B7, stock or stage 2. Been there many times in both. No replacement for displacement.

I will add to this, that in your 'around town' scenarios, then yes they will get off the line quicker unless you want to be a hooligan, and that's not the right environment for that kind of driving.

Fair enough. I'd imagine the mph would need to start with a '1' before the RS4 makes its advantage really show.

Rs6 close calls ( vs )

Post by tiago719 » Thu Nov 03, 2016 9:42 am

I tested with a b5 rs4 with 850 and a gtr 730
The gtr pulled away 2 cars length until 250 kph I had 3 passengers and full tank . I think no passengers and empty trunk and no rear seats maybe I can keep up and pass the gtr at higher speeds
The gtr had rolling boost setup and I was fighting the tiptronic that insisted to change from 2nd to 3rd gear .
Here's a vid with rs6 limo with supposedly 740 made by in unknown tuner

Not all of us want to look and sound like we are from Essex even if you're keen to stress you're from Kent in your username. 750ps would mean more noise and would piss off my neighbours even more than they are already with my "noisy car' leaving at the crack of dawn every day.

For now given the limited amount I use my car I'l stick with 737ps and my bus pass ;)

Gearing plays a part as does transmission loss. The C6 will also lose about 1/2 a car length on a twin clutch car on upshifts.
The worst part of it is when someone gets on the gas a second or so before you, then you really have to play the long game and it will be 100-130mph before you start to catch up from a roll at say 50 ish. I guess the engine is keeping the C6 just ahead of the competition for now, but it wont be long, 3/4 years before the next generation of hot hatch / medium size saloon is quicker. Next gen RS3, RS4 etal. They wont have the V10 though.... :<beep>_you:

My 'holy <beep>' moment wasn't in my RS6 it was years ago when I had a Z4M. Screamer of an engine and a proper adrenaline machine. A B5 RS4 was ahead and I chased after him going for it. He pulled away from me with ridiculous ease and properly put me in my box!! Not sure if it was tuned or not but by Christ it shifted. Really showed the limitations in torque (269lb ft) in the old engine and the lack of a turbo or two! Boots on the other foot now truly
