I've always hankered after another E36 M3, the 5 speed 3.0 version. I had one years ago, and I've also had two 3.2 Evos, an E46 and a LHD E30 M3, and the 3.0 5 speed is by far my favourite.

I had an S2000 years ago when I lived in London and I hated it. The V-Tec engine sounded great on full chat with the AEM cold air intake but having to rev it so hard to get any performance really got on my nerves. Secondly I thought the high speed handling was terrible and very unpredictable. Several times I recall driving along motorways in the rain at circa 60mph and being on the ragged edge of it’s limits with the back end and front ends twitching and snapping and wanting to spit me off in any direction. Owners seem to love them but I have to question how much hairdressers really test the handling limits of their cars. A universally loved car hated by me, get a Civic type R if you want V-Tec fun, they are a total hoot!

Gents,

Thanks a bunch for the suggestions, much appreciated.

On my watchlist now:
E46 M3 - Good price for the effect.
S2000 - Even though the above comment they are gorgeous and a test drive would be needed to decide if it is, indeed, a hairdresser racer. (I might be slightly biased as driving a V8 Super 7 makes it difficult for any other car to compare..)
Skyline - Sure, could be.
Golf R32 - None for sale in phils. Still on the list.
Mazda MPS (3/6) - Also on the list - had one before - nice cars for the money.

Any others; bring it on!
