Re: Still hunting for one..... sigh..!
Of course, you'd not have the memory seats if you did it that way...
I'd kill for buckets in mine, shame they're not black. You could take all the memory stuff too, I'm sure doing a memory seat retrofit is a doddle after the reclining rear seat retrofit you did in the A8.

Re: Still hunting for one..... sigh..!
When I got mine, got everything I wanted but the sunroof, adaptive cruise and 3G.
Gutted about the adaptive cruise! Id say that would be my #1 too. The 3G though.... I don't think there's any massive difference. It still doesn't do proper postcodes which is such a pita!
Id have loved a massive sunroof too and Id probably never open it, just have it letting light in. Plus you can turn the heating in with one of them I think!

Re: Still hunting for one..... sigh..!
I guess I'm just a bit tired of the old low rez 2G system. I just sold my A7 and that had 3GPlus and wow, that was good. It also had Adaptive cruise, B&O, Sunroof, park assist, night vision, advanced key, led lights, parking system advanced, heads up display, soft close, heated steering wheel and more. I've been running around in Audis with the 2G system now for about 5 years. The A7 I had for a while was technologically amazing. Whilst I know that 3G is basically a bit more multimedia and higher rez screen, it also looks more modern and to me, feels like the car is a bit more youthful and an advancement on the older cars I've been driving....... The 3G is definitely more about making the car feel less old, than actually having much practical benefit....Shinobi675 wrote:When I got mine, got everything I wanted but the sunroof, adaptive cruise and 3G.

Still, like everything else on my wish list, its not a 'must have' if mostly everything else is right....

You should be looking for a C7 RS6.it_s8 wrote:I guess I'm just a bit tired of the old low rez 2G system. I just sold my A7 and that had 3GPlus and wow, that was good. So, you're saying its the wrong colour and the seats aren't what you want either? Sounds like you need a change.... Let me take that old one off your hands for you and you can go shopping...Mr V10 wrote:Of course, you'd not have the memory seats if you did it that way...

Re: Still hunting for one..... sigh..!
haha. The thought had crossed my mind.... Bit much for my pocket really. If I had a steady job commuting the same predictable journey every day with a nice car park at the other end, it would be more likely. In reality, I work from home, or I travel some motorway miles. Nothing really in the middle. I can't justify the depreciation with mileage and initial capital outlay A C7 would attract...classba wrote: You should be looking for a C7 RS6.
A nice C6 would make a perfect, cost effective mobile office....

Re: Still hunting for one..... sigh..!
If you thought 3G+ was good, the latest Audi infotainment systems will blow your mind.
MIB 1 in the A3, an MIB 2 in the A6/7 facelift and virtual cockpit in the new TT, the second generation Q7 has some epic features. Natural speech recognition, full integration with Apple and Andriod phones, ditching AMI for a USB connector, wireless charging of your mobile! FaceTime from the rear seat tablets, and much more including traffic jam assist (autonomous driving to 40MPH in traffic!)
It's funny, because when we went across to Germany we had to compare it with the Merc systems, which were a embarrassment. No surprise they're selling so few vs Audi...
3G MMI does feel nicer than the regular MMI in the C6, wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if all else was okay.
One will come along. My favourites options after living with them for two years are below, in order of favourite.
1. Saloon
2. Ceramics
3. Adaptive Cruise
4. Alcantara headlining
5. Rear view camera
6. High beam assist
7. Twin pane & UV insulating glass
8. Blinds
9. Digital TV/DVD player
10. Soft close
11. Sunroof
IF the C6 search fails, you've got to get a C7 S6, I should be able to get you into a brand new one for £46-7k, it's where my money would go, non-tuned and tested at 0-60 in 3.6 secs (Car & Driver), and the ability to do an extra 10MPG vs the C6 with cylinder on demand tech and the latest MIB 2 infotainment systems and S Tronic with launc control.

1. Saloon - Looks nicer, guaranteed 3G, Fractionally quicker, Less practical so i'm either way.
2. Ceramics - Take it or leave it for me. Good resale value. high service cost.
3. Adaptive Cruise - Very Keen, but its not the least retrofittable option if it came to it.....
4. Alcantara headlining - Nice, but quite retrofittable. If you can find one. On the plus side they're not handed, so I can import from Germany if needed...
5. Rear view camera - I've never really benefitted from it. Tends to mist up in bad weather when you want it most in my experience. Most seem to have it anyway.
6. High beam assist - Was really nice on the S4 Manual with 1 hand on the shift, but if Im on the steering wheel / paddles anyway then main beam is a flick away.
7. Twin pane & UV insulating glass - Yes. Would be nice. I've seen a couple with it. not too difficult to retrofit, but then you lose privacy glass...
8. Blinds - nice on the saloon to fill in a dashboard blank. nice on the avant to secure the rear load a bit better. Easy retrofit.
9. Digital TV/DVD player - DVD player on 3G is nice. TV tuner is nice as I tend to digest news channels stuck in traffic. Seems virtually all RS6's have TV for some reason.
10. Soft close - Yes, almost pointless, but with practise you can nearly always close the door ajar and listen as its satisfyingly sucks it shut... not a dealbreaker in any way.
11. Sunroof - Should be in the top 2 slots really. Cant retrofit. Without it, how do you listen to exhaust notes in tunnels without looking like a yob...

I've had lots of 'S's. I know the C7 S6 is good, very good. But its just another 'S' to add to my photo collection. The A7 was a great car, but had a certain degree of clinical perfection about the way it just did everything perfectly. And that's before I start moaning about start/stop. I want a bit of raw lunacy in my driving without too much modern tech getting in the way....Mr V10 wrote:

Totally missing the point of a '6 and would be better off with a specced up Dervit_s8 wrote:

Re: Still hunting for one..... sigh..!
Sounds like you want a poverty spec Fiesta that you can retro fit all the options to
Re: Still hunting for one..... sigh..!
lol
I've had plenty of specced up Dervs....
Id argue you guys sometimes miss the "comfortable cruising capability's" of the RS6....
I work from home a lot, and I'm a family man so the weekend sees me confined to a Q7.
The RS6 will be my way of really enjoying every motoring mile I can. Yes, 90% of them will be motorway but in my experience even sat cruising on a motorway a V10 petrol sounds / feels / and just is way better than any repmobile wanna be sootchucker.... And then the joy of living in Yorkshire is that I don't live on the motorway itself, I have B roads to get me to and from it.....
I think a genuine rare quality of the RS6 is that it can be a 200mph supercar, and at the same time, a well specced, and subtle motorway cruiser. I don't think there are many cars that can honestly claim that....

Just aiming for the highest possible spec car to make a (worst case) 4 hour motorway journey as comfortable as possible.HYFR wrote:Sounds like you want a poverty spec Fiesta that you can retro fit all the options to
I want to buy an RS6, and actually use it daily. I'm not going for a high spec car just to show it off, I've used and experienced each feature and /to me/ they are the ones I would prefer to have in a daily driver.
I don't really want to spend time / effort / money in retrofitting anything as I've been there, done that, and times precious.
I start to get the impression all you guys just get it out at the weekend for a 0-60 blast and then put it away again....
