A lot of lag

Post by Limited100 » Sat May 24, 2025 6:41 pm

Current spec:
Secondary cats removed
BMC filters
Wagner intercooler
Dodgy stage 1 map (non-MRC)

Recent dyno at MRC (click to expand):

Dyno run where it made 666 PS and 805 NM: https://www.instagram.com/p/DJ7xlH7I3GF/

(First run it made 20 PS and 50 NM less, then Doug fixed some vac leaks; it pulls stronger at the top end now but won't be driving it much until it's seen to, I'm worried about turbos going and taking the new Wagners with them.)

Should be hitting peak torque at 2k not 4k, turbos maxxed out at stage 1 so guessing a boost leak or something else. Because they're maxxed out we didn't try a stage 2 map.

Anyone seen this amount of lag before?

Gutted as I've already put a lot of money into this project and seller lied about servicing, it's needed loads of bits rectifying and despite saying it had spark plugs done a year ago, on inspection they're stamped 08!

Also oil on the spark plugs so some leaking in the cam cover.

Stage 2 will have to wait.
C6 RS6 Avant 2009 | Stock turbos | Wagner ICs | BMC filters | Secondary cats removed
Currently an unknown stage 1 map, making 658 bhp 805 NM on a hot day on Tesco 99, laggy but no boost leaks
Will not go to stage 2 confirmed by MRC because turbos already at 9x% duty, a mystery - engine out to diagnose
Runs fine for now, done 10k miles in it in 10 months, perhaps in the next couple of years will refurb turbos etc.
1000 bhp not viable because gearbox upgrade alone is £9k

Not your main issue but - Your leaking in the cam cover could be the solenoids for the variable cam timing, thats an easy fix (relatively, its all relative for the 6) to replace the o-rings if it is

Thanks, added to the very long list.

Mallory Performance did a smoke test earlier, no leaks so I guess it must be either blocked cat, wastegates, or broken turbos.

If it wasn't £9k for a strengthened gearbox I might be tempted by TTE1000s.
