Oil seal & coolant pipes question

Post by Carlson » Wed Jan 27, 2021 12:36 pm

Hi Everyone,

Quick question re the 2 well known faults-
Oil seal and coolant pipes:

Assuming both have been "fixed" will either be likely
to need doing again, or are the "fixes" likely to last the life of the car?

Cheers

I had my coolant pipes powder coated with the same stuff as is used on MoD Landrovers so I hope they'll last a while but I'd put money on my car needing the jobs done again at some point before combustion engines are banned.

Considering that the o-ring seems to last around 10 years you can hope that the repair will give you 15 years peace of mind, given the higher temperature resistance of materials like Viton.
