Insurance

Post by don0301 » Sun Apr 07, 2019 11:35 am

Paid £385 last year, after shopping around best quote this year was £450....

But....hadn't heard from my present insurers, 1 phone call later, was offered £310, how often does that happen?

Only difference is 3 points I have "expiring" over 3 years but still on license until next year

It happens. Twenty-odd years ago mine went from £500 to a quote of nearly £900 with no changes to circumstances. Shopping around took it back down to £500. A couple of yearly strops with people like Adrian Flux eventually led me to a broker who have provided excellent service and I've stuck with them especially after one year when they phoned me saying that my renewal was stupid money so they'd shopped around for me and saved £100 on the previous peremium.
Insurance companies rely a lot on people not being bothered to even read their renewal and just pay it. Take a look at your home insurance, goes up every year until you threaten to go elsewhere when it will suddenly drop....

Moneysupermarket is where i get my insurance renewals. There is absolutely no incentive to remain with ‘current’ insurer. YoY prices go up and how that industry treats and behaves towards motorists is simply shocking. Therefore, if they think they are smart, We should be smart/er .

Yep. My present insurer quoted £1800 from £1400 last year (LV). I’ve shopped around and new policy starts next week with Esure for £840. Doesn’t pay to stay loyal nowadays.

Totally agree. I was with Admiral for years when I bought my RS6 and they quoted me £1400 - now with Direct Line at £450. Much more like it!

I switched from Direct Line to Privilege (same company, different "brand") and saved a fair bit.
Just had this years renewal quote on my S8 and it's gone down!
