Gearbox upgrade

Post by zex » Sat Jul 15, 2017 7:42 pm

I've noticed that few people have upgraded their gearboxes. Which parts in gearbox need to be changed?

I tried searching but all I found was this http://www.nizpro.com.au/services/trans ... -upgrades/
This is for two wheel drive vehicles (6HP26). Can it still be used in 6HP26A?

On this site they have basically three parts to be changed - two shafts and a sump.

I think most have just added more clutch plates. I think Sportmile found out that the OEM input shafts was stronger than the aftermarket billet shafts they put in. Do not know if they used parts from Nizpro or not though. If you are NOT planning on doing stand still launches, I think it may be enough to rebuild + uprate the clutch packs.

Talk to Ricky @ Reperformance, he did mine.

From the list on mine (done my Ricky Elder) it was uprated clutch plates, uprated torque convertor (stronger rotor/stator), new input and intermediate shafts (not sure if new OEM or uprated TBH) and modified valvebody.

The two shafts are the "weakest" point of the uprated GB so it's a shame that the the Nizpro shafts etc are 2WD only (4WD shaft is different). I "think" their sump is still the same shape though and might fit.

What they said Ricky is the man in the know. He did mIne after Audi fooked it up. It's now handling 740hp and 1000Nm with no issues.

I kept getting the error msg thrown on my dashboard for gearbox that put me on limp mode and said it got heated up and wouldn't get picked up on VAG diagnostics. After a new filter and sump with new seals and replacing the gearbox fluid, I've not had the issue again, that was a approx under year ago.

Yes Teo is the man behind Teo Motors and also upgrades all of Sportmiles's. I was the 1st to contact him directly in the UK to have my GB upgraded. He has few levels of upgrades depending on what you want to achieve. I chose his stage 2 which was good enough for 900+.

You can drive over to him in Poland and have your GB upgraded in house in a day turnaround if that floats your boat saving on stripping and shipping it.

I've subsequently passed the contact to Ricky after mine was completed. :)

@classba ahhhh this was on your RS6 C6, that’s when your gearbox contact started it all!
You should have got an intro fee from Teo Motors from day 1!
Richer than rich then :beerchug:

As you know I chose to move the car along and mod the next one.
lots and lots, no time served. It’s gets funnier, from yesteryears cars to ones due in months :piss:

I contacted Teo Motors (first by mail and then called twice) but in two weeks I din't get any reply from the boss as he is the one who is dealing with tuning upgrades.
