every day of the week :-) would love some snow and ice like a few winters ago, good fun watching the BMW/Merc brigade parked up not attempting to go out to the shops, not a problem for a quattro :-)

worst car ive ever driven in the snow, BUT it was on Sport-Maxx, on winter tyres im sure its fine lol, slimline chains were the only savior.

I should add factory rubber fitted VW allroad went off the mountain in front of us (good 12meter drop).

i should have read the blurb from their site before going up

'The SP Sport Maxx is Dunlop's Max Performance Summer tire developed for high-powered sports cars, sporty coupes and luxury performance sedans. Designed to be exhilarating in dry and reassuring in the wet, SP Sport Maxx tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow…'

will be interesting to see how the pilot sport cups go up there next year :P

Having driven a C6 RS6 for a number of UK winters plus a trip to the Alps on winter tyres I can definitely recommend.

On the positives they are brilliant on snow and ice but also significantly better in standing water which is a bigger issue during most UK winters. Compared to standard summer tyres the ability to track straight through standing water without the car moving at all is immense, massive confidence booster. They also grip straight off the drive in the morning even on the coldest days. Drove up to Belle Plagne which is at 2050M, in the winter and the grip just never degraded, foot in in second out of mountain hairpins without fuss. Finally your summer wheels don’t get mucked up with all the salt and crap and if they are getting a bit tired looking you’ve got a few months to get round to having them refurbished.

On the negatives they have less absolute grip however are more progressive at the limit. Steering also feels more ‘mushy’ which I’ve always assumed is the tread blocks moving around however in the spring as the weather warms up this becomes more noticeable. Finally there is the upfront cost to consider.

OK, review over as I do have a bit of an ulterior motive. Unfortunately my beautiful RS6 was stolen this summer, key stolen from house while asleep, crashed 6 weeks later, driver ran away, gutted. As a result however I do have a set of genuine Audi 20” winter wheels and tyres on eBay, search for “Original Audi 20” RS6 C6 winter wheels & tyres”

No hard sell, the above review is genuine, they do work great however I need the space for a set for my new car. I paid a lot to import them from Germany and they are on eBay with a reserve which is a fraction of what I paid so you might just bag yourself a bargain. I’ll go even further and promise that anyone who can deliver me the cold, dead body of the scrote who stole my RS6 is welcome to take them for free ;-)
