Is the RS6 rewarding to drive?

Hi all

its been a good few years since i owned a RS6, i currently own a RS4 TTS supercharged and have owned 2 x RS4's a v10 S8 and a RS6 v10 C6 in the last 4 years

I owned my RS6 in 2014 and i was younger and a little out of my depth with money when i had it so it was short lived, i am not sure if i let a diamond go or just another powerful car.

I have since owned a few RS models, a S8 and more recently a m5 f10.

I traded my f10 m5 for the RS4 as i wanted somthing that i felt a little more connected to, however i am not sure i have gone a bit to far, the RS4 as we know is a drivers car and rewards that, it sounds beautiful the looks are beautiful but you need to be in the mood to drive it, or at least i do as i also own a range rover vougue tdv8 4.4 which is just bliss to drive.

I have a few options infront of me and one of them is the c6 rs6, i found my m5 v10 lacking in noise, looks, and i just felt disconnected from the car. Is the c6 similar? I think the specialness of the car is making it attractive, i love the subtle looks, the fact it really is such a beast....

how do you guys get on, its a second / third car for me so does not need to be driven every day but also i want to want to drive it.

If you fit H&R ARB's you can drive it like a hot hatch. Doesn't feel as light on its feet obviously but will be a revelation compared to the standard car. Exhaust and map provide the straight line oomph and noise to worry a 300k Supercar. Mine destroyed my mates C7 on Snake Pass

It's a 2+ ton motor. No matter what you do it will never, ever, feel or handle like a hot hatch. The End.

Oh I don't know. With a Stage 2 and ARBs its surprisingly light on its feet. Most other cars, on pretty much any road won't trouble it. The sound with a milltek system is good but could be a bit sharper.

They are amazing on long sweeping bends and straight lines and can bully most other cars out of the way-tuned (very reliable is the old C6) they are a monster. Trouble is you have to update the brakes (cheapest way is the ducts and pads at around £500), plus the ARB's etc. You'll spend a fair amount (at least £2k) turning a fast car into an insane one but as has been stated here it's no hot/hyper hatch. 2 tonnes is 2 tonnes and physics dictate that weight will want to throw you off the road in sharp corners. Engine note and exhaust (pref specialist) is outrageous.
Make sure you get a cared for one that has had the obvious oil leak/coolant lines sorted.
It's old school power but fun. Just get used to living in petrol forecourts!

I suppose it depends on what's meant by 'rewarding'. It's got road presence, it's missile fast, it's noisy and can hussle through anything but the really tight twisty bits without being bothered. On the other hand, to me it does seem to have a certain amount of executive 'disconnect' between the driver and what it does. Now that my daughter has moved from a go-kart Seicento to a Yaris, the car I use for a 'fun' drive is my partner's A1.
Not that I'd ever thrash it to the point of having to park up for 10 minutes or so to let it cool down before I get home, oh no .

H&R Antiroll bars transform them. They stop weight transferring across the axle, listen to people that have fitted them not Internet opinions that haven't.

Had my car nearly a month now and might end up clocking nearly 1000 miles this week so a lot of time in the car, super comfy, scares the pants out of folks sitting at 85 in the middle lane at night when they clearly havent been paying attention for the last hour or so and will keep 99% of idiots behind you when necessary. I dont mind them catching me on the bends, but they dont get you on the straights, unless of course you let them go for their ban in court.. and I'm now rather fond of our local VPower station. Did find the car just ticking over at 90 pulling around 2000 revs and getting better mpg than tootling!

Pretty much that from my experience.

It's a great A-Road/M-Way speed demon with so much torque it's never dull hitting the throttle and, with H&R ARB's fitted, it goes around long/medium corners much faster than you'd think safe for such a big car but in tighter corners it just can't hide that it's a 2 ton car (it's not a GTR ), the brakes are massively under-cooled for the weight and there's zero steering "feel" between the car and driver during cornering to let you just how much grip is left, you just feel the weight transfer happen as you turn in and then listen to the tyres to see if you're close to under-steering.

However if you drive to those "limitations" it's such a rewarding car to push on with.

Mines actually very darty on the end front in dynamic but I've got KW springs too. Chassis wise the biggest mistake was DS2500 on the rear. They are slightly different in size to the OEM pads and move in the caliper and get very hot compared to the front.

i have been hustling mine recently around Silverstone....Ian's AP racing 410mm dia brakes with the 'air duct' mods are a total transformation. They stop the car lap after lap with no fade (standard brakes gave up after 2 -3 laps on a previous trip to the circuit) and i was hitting 152-154mph on the straights with confidence
I have not yet tried the H&A anti roll bars but the StrongFlex poly bushes has tightened everything up nicely

the 'dag carrier' was capable to staying with a number of 'faster cars' and when it got wet, off with the ESP and drifting
.. the few Feza's that ventured out in the wet were struggling to stay ahead

I rewarded the hell outta mine this weekend also. Awesome bit of kit. The faster you drive it the more the exhaust crackles and pops in higher gears also.
